Hi, I’m Jess, and I’ve worked in childcare for four years.
I offer, full days where I can, afterschool hours, morning hours and evening hours. - mainly wraparound care other than weekends.
My favourite part of working with children is their imagination and the unique way they see the world. I love playing games with children of all ages, including older children, and hearing their incredible stories and ideas.
I particularly enjoy creating an environment where children feel understood, safe and comfortable being themselves. I also value being someone they can talk to openly — someone who is approachable and friendly, but also has the maturity and experience to listen, offer guidance and support them when they need it.
My Experience
I started my career as a gymnastics coach for 14-year-olds, but I quickly discovered my passion for childcare and went on to work as a playworker in a school. I progressed to lead the Year 4, 5 and 6 room before moving into nursery, where I have worked ever since.
Alongside my role as a school playworker, I also worked weekends as a respite sports support assistant, gaining further experience supporting children with different needs.
Last year, I completed my first year at Manchester Metropolitan University studying Primary Education with QTS. This year, I have chosen to switch to Childhood Studies because I care more about ensuring children are happy, safe and supported than focusing solely on academic achievement and grades on paper.
