About Me
I’m Neil, a friendly and patient tutor based in St John’s, Worcester. I offer one-to-one support for children from Reception to Year 6, as well as Maths and English support up to Year 8.
My approach is calm, practical and confidence-focused. I know that children do not all learn in the same way, so sessions are adapted around the individual child, whether they need help catching up, building confidence, preparing for SATs, tackling homework or simply finding a way of learning that works better for them.
I also offer mentoring support for young people up to Year 11, particularly around confidence, behaviour, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
Sessions are 45 minutes and take place in a dedicated learning space at my home in St John’s, Worcester.
My Experience
I am an experienced education practitioner and Learning Mentor with experience supporting children across primary, secondary and alternative provision, including work within a Pupil Referral Unit. I have also worked as a Student Support Manager, providing pastoral support, mentoring young people, liaising with families and contributing to multi-agency and safeguarding work.
I trained as a Thrive Licensed Practitioner for Adolescence and have experience supporting children with additional needs, behaviour challenges, emotional regulation and low confidence. This has taught me the importance of building trust first and adapting support to the individual child rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way.
I hold Level 2 qualifications in Counselling Skills and Awareness of Mental Health Problems, as well as an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Alongside education, I am a published children’s author, which has given me an additional interest in literacy, reading and helping children develop confidence with written and spoken language.
My Qualifications
I trained as a Thrive Licensed Practitioner for Adolescence and hold Level 2 qualifications in Counselling Skills and Awareness of Mental Health Problems. I have also completed Mental Health First Aid, Team Teach Advanced, sexual exploitation awareness and Emergency First Aid at Work training. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and have substantial safeguarding experience.
My Availability
I currently offer 45-minute one-to-one sessions from my home in St John’s, Worcester.
Regular appointments are mainly available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5pm, with some Saturday morning availability.

My Fees
- Tutoring from £33.33 per hour
One-to-one sessions are £25 for 45 minutes and take place in person in my dedicated tutoring space in St John’s, Worcester.
An initial assessment is also £25 and helps me understand your child’s confidence, strengths and areas where they may need support, so future sessions can be tailored to them.
Sessions can be booked and paid for online, with no long-term contract required.
