About Me
Hello! I'm looking to support a lovely family with childcare while I have some free time on my hands.
I spent three summers as an au pair, four months each summer, looking after two children who were 11 months and 3 years old when I first met them. We got on so well that we stayed in touch between summers and I was delighted to go back each year. It was a joy to watch the children grow and to be part of the family's routine.
I'm patient, reliable and playful, and I'm equally happy with bath and bedtime, getting out for some fresh air, or creative play at home. I also spent 18 months teaching in French schools, and I'm fluent in French, so I'd love to bring a bit of language and fun learning into our time together if that appeals.
I'm looking for a family I can build a real, long-term relationship with, as I did before. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you!
My Experience
I'm most recently a Marketing Director, and I'm currently between corporate roles. Rather than rush straight into the next one, I'd love to roll up my sleeves, have some fun and spend this time doing something I really enjoy: helping a lovely family with childcare. My corporate background means I'm organised, reliable and calm under pressure, but what I'm really looking for is a warm home and some good laughs.
Experience:
Wrap-around care for three children with autism
I provided wrap-around care for three children, all of whom have autism, including one who is non-verbal. This covered school pick-ups through to bath and bedtime. It taught me a great deal about patience, consistency and tuning in to each child's individual way of communicating, and it was hugely rewarding.
Au pair (three summers, four months each)
I looked after two children, aged 11 months and 3 years when we first met, and returned for three summers running because we got on so well. I did a bit of everything: bath and bedtime, doctors' appointments, cooking and light housework. I'm not afraid to muck in whenever it's needed, and I do it all with a smile and plenty of laughs. I've stayed in touch with the family ever since.
Teaching in French schools (18 months)
I taught in schools in the south of France and am fluent in French. I love weaving a little language and learning into everyday play.
My Qualifications
Not sure if 100% relevant but First in French, PRINCE2 qualified - no child care specific qualifications per se however real world experience of pursurading a 3 year old to eat a plate of veggies!!
