My Experience

I have over 7 years’ professional experience working in education as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. During this time, I have worked with children across different age groups and abilities, including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

My experience includes working within SEND classes, supporting children with autism and communication difficulties, managing challenging behaviour and helping children develop their confidence, independence and social skills. I have also worked closely with SENCOs, parents and outside professionals to ensure children receive the right support.

As an HLTA, I have experience teaching and leading classes and delivering individual and small-group interventions. I have supported children with literacy, phonics and other areas of learning, while adapting activities and communication to suit individual learning styles and needs.

I have experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties and understand the importance of patience, consistency and positive reinforcement. I have also helped create personalised resources and social stories and have supported children who are non-verbal.

Safeguarding is an important part of my role and I have up-to-date safeguarding training. I understand the importance of keeping children safe, recognising concerns and working appropriately with parents and other professionals.

Being a mum to two children, alongside my professional experience, means I have a good understanding of both the practical and emotional sides of caring for children. I’m confident managing routines, activities, homework, meals and different personalities, while making sure children are safe, happy and having fun.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Team Teach, Phonics and Safeguarding trained, with 7+ years’ experience supporting children including SEND.
