I am an international student from Sri Lanka, currently in the UK pursuing my Master’s in Education and looking for part-time opportunities. I am passionate about working with children and am eager to gain valuable international exposure and experience within the UK childcare sector. As an English graduate, I bring extensive experience in teaching, private tutoring, and community volunteering with children. My Experience
My childcare experience spans professional teaching, one-on-one private tutoring, and community volunteering with children:
• Private Tutor: Currently providing dedicated care and academic support to a six-year-old child, focusing on reading, writing, maths, science, and music, while encouraging hands-on learning through creative arts and crafts.
• School Teacher: Worked as an English Teacher and School Band Leader from 2023 to 2026, creating structured lesson plans, managing classrooms, and guiding students through music rehearsals and performances.
• Volunteer Instructor: Volunteered at Footprints Sri Lanka Homes, where I trained a children's choir and orchestra, provided educational support, and offered compassionate counseling assistance to children.
My Qualifications
• Caregiving: NVQ Level 03 - Caregiver.
• Education: BA (Hons) in English (Cardiff Metropolitan University, 2026) & Higher National Diploma in English.
• Key Skills: Child-focused learning, lesson planning, student guidance, music/choir training, arts and crafts, and bilingual communication (English and Tamil).
My Availability
As an international student, I am legally permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during term time. I have university lectures twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, meaning I am completely unavailable on those two days. I am also unavailable on Sundays Mornings and Saturday evenings due to church commitments. However, I am fully available for part-time childcare work on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday mornings/afternoons.
