Martha
Nanny in Sheffield (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
I grew up in Oxford in a single parent household. My mum worked really hard so I would often go to after-school club, and whilst this was often a lot of fun, I definitely would have preferred to go home after school with a familiar face who I could have bonded with - which is why I’d love to be that familiar face for other children in similar circumstances! I’ve just graduated university and I’m working part time as a barista, but that can get quite lonely and I’d really love to spend more time in a hands on people facing job such as nannying. I have recently become an auntie and it’s my favourite thing in the world, but my nephew lives in Bristol so I don’t get to see him as much as I’d like, but he’s been a big part of my want to look after children! I’m unsure of my future plans at the moment - all I know is that I love Sheffield and see myself here long term, and I’m enjoying having jobs where I can interact with people (whether that’s babies, children, teenagers, or adults)
My Experience
I’ve been babysitting since I was 14, looking after children in my local area back home in Oxford. I often picked children up from school, took them out for fun activities such as to the park, to the cinema, to soft play centres etc and I’d make them dinner, help them with their homework, get them ready for bed and read them a bedtime story. I was up for anything and I really bonded with many of them!
I take a warm and gentle approach and children always seem to feel comfortable around me even if they’re shy at first :) I’m very creative and I love helping children and young people discover their creativity through arts and crafts, and I absolutely love cooking and baking and trying out new recipes (especially kid friendly ones making food fun). I have lots of experience helping with homework and being able to make homework fun using lots of appraisal and celebrating small wins, and I’m also a keen environmentalist and nature lover and I think it’s really important for children and young people to spend time outside! I’ve played lots of different sports growing up and continued playing football at university, and I also have experience with musical instruments such as piano.
