Hi I'm Jenna from Curious Creative Koalas! I am a friendly person who enjoys spending time with children and encouraging and observing them learning through play by having a great time in a range of environments.
I enjoy reading, walking, photography, spending time with my younger siblings and cooking/baking, volunteering on National Deaf Children's Society events and attending a Signing Choir on a weekly basis which I have been a member of since 2009.
I have a wide experience of working with children of various ages, abilities and backgrounds in a range of setttings. I have provided support towards their learning in; Mainstream Infant and Junior Schools, Special School, Pre-School, Nursery, Foster Home, alongside a Childminder, After School Nannying, Babysitting and in a Unit for the Deaf/Deaf.
I have worked as a Communication Support Worker for over 5 years as a one to one for children with hearing impairments using British Sign Language (BSL), then became a full time Home Childcarer in 2014.
I have achieved BSL Level 1, 2 and 3.
I also know Makaton which is using signs and symbols to aid communication.
I have also worked closely with and supported children who have Special Educational Needs, Global Developmental Delay, Learning Difficulties and ADHD.
Therefore I can express that I have a specialism in supporting those with additional needs.
I have been around children since I was younger and have continued the passion for it in my career.
I hold a BTEC National Certificate Level 3 in Early Years as well as a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Working with Sensory Impaired Children and Young People specialising in Hearing Impairment which enables me to check hearing aids and cochlear implants and provides me with the knowledge on how to pursue any problems that occur with these.
I have also had further training through 'The Emmeline Centre for Hearing Implants' ' which is at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.
I have attended many early years training through Norfolk County Council and some additional training through my employment at a school.
