About Me

Hi, my name is Daryl, I'm a 31 year old female babysitter and tutor based in Paisley. I am very experienced, have several qualifications and am currently a student primary school teacher. My rates are £12 per hour for babysitting and £20 per hour for tutoring in any curricular area for primary aged children. I'm a calm, fun and engaging childcare provider/tutor and am always happy to be flexible and work with you in terms of what your family needs from me.

My Experience

I have many years experience of working in childcare and am happy to say it is my true passion. My babysitting experience spans more than ten years. For five of these years I have worked as a full time nanny with two young girls. On top of this, I've volunteered in children's after school clubs, holiday clubs, forest kindergartens and nurseries. When attaining my HNC in early education and childcare, I worked three days a week in a wonderful nursery setting. I have extensive experience working with children from 0 months to around 12 years old within these settings. I have worked as an additional support needs assistant where I worked on a one to one basis with pupils aged 11-17. Each of these pupils has individual needs which I ensured were met, ranging from physical disabilities to learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties. This was an extremely rewarding position which has increased my abilities as a childcare provider tenfold.
I also used to work as a home link assistant in a local secondary school and it's feeder primaries, where I had a caseload of pupils and families who I would help to access education and overcome barriers to education.
My qualifications mean that I am very capable in developing children's literacy and numeracy skills and encourage them to engage with and attain through education. I am currently a student primary school teacher and will be a qualified teacher by May 2024. I am very comfortable and confident in teaching and tutoring all areas of the curriculum to primary aged children and will have individually tailored lessons planned ahead of time for your children.

What all this work accumulates to is someone who is very handy with caring for the physical, mental and emotional needs of children of all backgrounds and abilities. Last year I received my degree in childhood and youth studies, the main focus of which is the psychology and sociology of children and childhood. So what I learned at university, I put to work in caring for each child. This means that I see each child as an individual being, with unique behaviours, needs and abilities. My job is to nourish this as well as make sure each child feels happy, comfortable and safe in my care at all times.

My practical experience includes all factors needed for babies, like feeding, changing, bathing, playing and of course cuddling! As well as for toddlers and older children, including all of the above plus cooking and help with homework. Over the years I have been to hundreds of piano lessons, swimming lessons, football clubs etc and am happy to take children to any and all activities. I have my own car and a clean driving licence, so can take children wherever needed as long as I am provided with appropriate car seats.

Most importantly, I love to play! Play is so so important to children's holistic development and their happiness. I am happy to sit back and follow the children's lead in play as they are of course experts in their own needs, likes and play. I also love to create activities specifically tailored to the individual child's needs. Lots of free play, small world play, arts and crafts, role play, outdoor play and so much more!
