Glen Jakes Nursery is a small privately owned family run business, managed by the owners for over 25 years, we provide quality childcare in a homely, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Glen Jakes Nursery is situated within acres of private tranquil countryside, a rare pocket of land in the heart of Stockport on Bean Leach Road, we are easily accessible from all areas. Our rural location means children benefit from fresh air, very little traffic and idyllic views.
The nursery was inspected by Ofsted in April 2014 and we are proud to say they graded us as a good nursery, we strive in the future to become an outstanding nursery.
Our dedicated staff team have vast knowledge and experience of childcare development, providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment in a home from home friendly atmosphere enabling children to learn, develop, accomplish & achieve their true potential.
The children are cared for in age appropriate rooms, where the children’s individual needs are paramount. All children have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities, both adult initiated and child led to aid in their development.
At Glen Jakes Nursery we make the most of the countryside surroundings as we believe that children need time to play and run free in open spaces while exploring and investigating there natural world around them. Our endless outdoor activities are a firm favourite with our children and undoubtedly their regular visits to see the horses, feed the fish, nature trails and picnics in our beautiful woodlands is most definitely the healthiest environment enjoyed by all our children.
We strongly believe in “parents as partners”, we work closely together from the very start, sharing information with our parent(s)/guardians, providing reassurance and a foundation for the child’s learning and development.
Finding the right care for your child can be very difficult with many questions to be answered. We encourage you to come and see for yourself, so that you have the opportunity to chat to our team and get a real family feel of our nursery. You are more than welcome to visit and view our setting at anytime, however we do suggest you avoid our lunch time period between 12.00pm – 1.00pm.

2 year funding and 30 hours funding available
We are open all year round excluding public bank holidays.
We do not charge a registration fee nor do we ask for a deposit, minimal overheads enable us to provide very competitive prices.
Parent(s)/guardians are encouraged to bring their child to visit our nursery prior to their start date. Our settling in visits are free of charge and we have no “hard and fast” rule regarding the number of visits your child can attend, because we believe that both the child and the parent(s) need to feel settled prior to the initial start date.
Payment Details
We endeavour to accommodate all our parent(s)/guardians preferred payment methods, your individual preference will be discussed upon registration.
We accept all recognised childcare vouchers. Ask your employer about their provision of childcare vouchers. If you require further information contact your local Children’s information service.
3rd party payment providers are accepted i.e. college, employer’s.
The Early Years Government Grant for children two & three is honoured
Payment is required in advance according to your agreed contract terms and conditions.
Four weeks’ notice in writing is required if you wish to withdraw your child from the nursery.
We always endeavour to accommodate our parent(s)/guardians requirements regarding additional hours and extra day requests along with changing their contracted booking pattern as needed, but please appreciate a four week notice period must be given along with confirmation from our management team prior to your request being granted this is due to our Adult: Child ratio requirements.
Payments are accepted via cash or cheque.
Unfortunately no deduction will be honoured for any absenteeism i.e. holidays, sickness etc.
Please note that due to additional staffing cost, late collections will incur an additional fee, at our discretion.
Parents to provide
Parents are advised to provide:
Nappies if applicable
A change of clothing
Suitable coat, hat, gloves, scarf for winter and sun cream and hat for summer
Suitable footwear (wellingtons/shoes)
Please label your child’s items as we will not be held responsible for any that may go missing.

My little boy started settling in sessions at this nursery a couple of months ago. He was 1 and had always been at home with me. He found it very difficult to be separated from me and was very upset all day every day for the first few weeks. I was so impressed with the way that the staff at Glen Jakes dealt with the situation. They were patient and caring. They allowed him to have extra settling in sessions and were reassuring and supportive. He is now really enjoying his time there and is happy when I drop him off. He has developed a lot of new skills over the past couple of months and is clearly learning there. The staff are all approachable and easy to talk to. They are warm and affectionate with my little boy and I really feel that they know him well and care about him. He clearly loves them! This knowledge has really helped my transition back to work and I an extremely grateful to them all.
