About Me

Hello, my name is Nichola.

I’m a mum of four wonderful children, aged 30, 28, 25 and 24, and a very proud grandma to four grandsons aged between 1 and 7. My family is at the heart of everything I do, and it was this love of family and caring for children that naturally led me into fostering and childcare.

I have been a foster carer for 22 years, and during that time I have cared for over 61 children, from newborn babies right through to young adults aged 20+. I have supported children with a wide range of additional, complex and special needs, as well as emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in all aspects of caring for children — from those first sleepless nights, potty training and sleep regression, to supporting children through anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma and developmental challenges. I have experienced many different situations throughout my fostering journey, and each one has helped me develop my knowledge, confidence and understanding of children and their individual needs.

I’m committed to continuing my professional development and complete over 20 hours of training each year, keeping my knowledge up to date with current childcare practices, legislation and guidance around child development.

I’m also a driver, which means I can offer flexibility and consistency when it comes to appointments, activities, nursery or school runs and other commitments.

I’m passionate about what I do and take great pride in creating a safe, nurturing and stable environment where children feel secure, valued, listened to and, most importantly, loved. I understand that every child is different, and I always take the time to build trust and get to know them as an individual.

I have also had the privilege of supporting women as a labour partner on numerous occasions, providing emotional and practical support throughout childbirth. It is something I feel very honoured to have been trusted with and is another reflection of the caring and supportive relationships I naturally build with others.

Caring for children isn’t simply a job to me — it really is who I am. I’m happy, bubbly and full of energy (you’ll often find me singing, dancing or generally jumping around! ?). I love creating fun, happy memories while also providing the consistency, boundaries and reassurance children need.
