My Summary
About Me
I am an experienced and qualified early childhood educator with Forest School training. I am registered to offer government funded sessions (15 hours a week for 3 and 4 year olds). Please let me know if this is of interest to you.
I am committed to offering an inclusive childcare provision and have written my SEND Local Offer. If parents have any specific requests, please let me know. All policies and procedures are stored securely online, if you wish to view these before viewing my setting please let me know.
I am a family centred, flexible, childcare professional offering a nurturing and educational environment for your child/ren. I'm passionate about offering exceptional childcare, with an emphasis on attachment and outdoor learning.
I am experienced with home educated children. I follow a nature curriculum all year round tailored to current children’s interests and schemas and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our family philosophy is that of free range childhood, allowing children to be children. We believe the chance to connect with the natural world, first hand experiences of life and growth, endless opportunities for creativity and imagination, improved fitness and physical development – the countless benefits of outdoor play have a real positive impact on children's lives. Using open space to fulfill basic childhood needs – jumping, running, climbing, swinging, racing, yelling, rolling, hiding, and making a big mess – is what childhood is all about.
Outside, children are more likely to invent games. As they do, they're able to express themselves and learn about the world in their own way. They feel safe and in control, which promotes autonomy, decision-making, and organizational skills. Inventing rules for games (as preschoolers like to do) promotes an understanding of why rules are necessary.
Although the children are only playing to have fun, they're learning
- communication skills and vocabulary (as they invent, modify, and enforce rules),
- number relationships (as they keep score and count),
- social customs (as they learn to play together and cooperate).
For these reasons we operate our setting mainly in the great outdoors, utilising National Trust membership to visit the miles of beautiful countryside available to us, take part in special events and allow children the freedom to be themselves.
Our ethos is natural and holistic, providing healthy, vegetarian and organic snacks throughout the day. Due to sharp rises in the cost of living, we are no longer able to provide cooked meals and ask parents to provide healthy, vegetarian packed lunches.
Just like any other childminder or nursery, we sing songs, and listen to and tell stories every day – with the added bonus that much of the time we will be doing it under the trees. We ensure plenty of opportunities for the development of early literacy skills such as letter and word recognition.
Learning outdoors is also the perfect place to develop those early maths skills, whether it be through counting conkers, pacing out distances, or finding shapes we recognise in the world around.
We focus on using what we find for creative artwork, imaginative, exploratory play and for designing and building.
Research has shown that owning a pet or having regular access to a pet is beneficial to children's welfare. Brushing, patting, or stroking a furry creature can lower stress levels and even the youngest toddler can pick up a few pointers about responsibility, like the importance of being kind and gentle, teaching him/her valuable lessons about empathy and compassion. We have friendly chickens within our household that all children have regular contact with and help with feeding, topping up water and collecting eggs.
Feel free to contact me to discuss details of your childcare needs. I charge £7 per hour per child.
In addition I am able to offer a tutoring service covering KS1 Maths, English and Science. I charge £10 per hour per child for this service.
If you are in need of babysitting, please contact me to see if I can offer assistance. I charge £10 per hour for this service.

My children absolutely love Free Range Childminding, she is so caring and patient, they are always telling me of the fantastic activities they do and trips out every day. I was so worried about using a childminder as both my children have been clingy even with relatives but they settled quickly and are always asking when the can go back. They do so much more than other settings I looked at, both my children have progressed so quickly since going there, I really highly recommend Free Range Childminding to anyone looking for someone who cares for children as if they are her own and goes that one step further in planning activities that every child loves.

Fantastic childminder, kids just love her and they spend so much time outside, it's so healthy for them, she does so much more than other childminders, I wish I could go there myself!
