About Me
Hi, I’m Jazz! I’m a qualified secondary English teacher based in Taunton, where I live with my wife and our two cats.
I have years of experience working with children and young people, both in the UK and internationally, teaching across Key Stages 3–5. I’m an English specialist and can provide tutoring in English Language and Literature, reading, writing, comprehension, study skills and exam preparation, as well as more general homework and learning support.
Alongside tutoring, I’m also available for babysitting. My experience as a teacher means I’m confident working with children and teenagers of different ages, abilities and needs. I’m patient, caring and reliable, and I enjoy getting to know young people and their individual interests and personalities.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and a full clean driving licence. I’m also very happy to help with pets and light household tasks where needed.

My Experience
I’m a qualified secondary English teacher with several years of professional experience working with children and young people in both the UK and internationally.
I have taught English across KS3–KS5, including GCSE/IGCSE and A Level/International A Level English Language and Literature. I have experience supporting pupils with a wide range of abilities and needs, including SEND and EAL learners, and particularly enjoy helping young people build their confidence in reading, writing and communication.
Before qualifying as a teacher, I worked as a Residential Support Worker in a children’s home, supporting young people aged 13–17. This gave me extensive experience in safeguarding, behaviour management and supporting young people with additional and complex needs.
I also spent three summers working as an NCS Team Leader, where I was responsible for groups of 15–17-year-olds and supported them through residential activities, team-building and personal development.
I have experience caring for much younger children too. I previously worked as a live-in au pair for two boys aged 1 and 8, and I have regularly cared for my nieces and nephew over many years, including looking after my nieces from when they were babies.
My earlier experience also includes volunteering in a primary school to support children’s literacy development.
I hold a degree in English Language and Linguistics, a PGCE in Secondary Education (English), and an enhanced DBS check. I also have a full clean driving licence.
Overall, my experience ranges from caring for babies and young children through to teaching and mentoring teenagers, so I’m comfortable adapting to the needs, routines and personalities of different children and families.

My Availability
I currently have flexible availability for both babysitting and tutoring.
I am available during weekdays, evenings and weekends, including occasional or one-off babysitting. I may also be able to accommodate regular weekly arrangements.
For tutoring, I offer both in-person and online sessions.
