My Experience
I started off as a childminder for the children in my neighbourhood. I'd take them to the park and play sports together, have tutoring sessions and of course doing the things they love. I spent the last two years working in an SEN Primary School, where my duties included providing one-on-one or small group support to children with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in class activities. I assisted with personal care if needed, implemented tailored learning strategies, and worked closely with teachers and parents to monitor progress. My role also involved creating a safe, inclusive environment where each child felt supported, understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The skills I picked up while working in a school setting, such as patience, communication, adaptability, and building trusting relationships with children and families, will also be valuable as a nanny.
