Diego
Nanny in Edinburgh (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
Hi! I’m Diego, a qualified Early Childhood Educator from Spain, currently living and working as a Spanish pre-school teacher in Edinburgh.
I have over 5 years of experience caring for and working with children from newborns to 10 years old, and I genuinely love helping children feel happy, confident, and curious. My background in early childhood education has given me a strong understanding of children’s individual needs and development, and I always aim to create a safe, loving, and stimulating environment where they can learn and have fun.
I enjoy coming up with creative and educational activities, from arts and crafts and imaginative games to stories, outdoor adventures, and age-appropriate learning activities. I’m also very happy to follow a family’s usual routines and adapt activities to each child’s personality, interests, and needs.
A little about me
I’m a reliable, patient, caring, and creative person, and I understand how important it is for parents to feel comfortable and confident when leaving their children in someone else’s care.
I’m fluent in both Spanish and English, so I can also introduce Spanish naturally through games, stories, songs, and everyday conversation if that’s something your family would enjoy.
Outside of work, I like to keep an active and healthy lifestyle. I practice yoga and exercise regularly, and I love reading, cooking healthy meals, and travelling. I’m always happy to bring some of these interests into activities with children too!
I’m based in Stockbridge and I’m happy to travel to families across Edinburgh.
If you’re looking for someone experienced, caring, energetic, and genuinely passionate about working with children, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch — I’d be very happy to answer any questions and have a chat about how I could help your family.
My Experience
I have over 5 years of experience working with children, from babies as young as 5 months to children up to 10 years old.
I worked as a pre-school teacher in several schools in Spain, where I gained valuable experience supporting children’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing. This gave me a strong foundation in early childhood education and helped me develop a caring, patient, and child-centred approach.
Since moving to Edinburgh, I have worked for over two years as an Early Years Practitioner in different nurseries, gaining further experience with babies, toddlers, and pre-school children. I’m confident supporting children with their daily routines, learning and development, play, meals, and personal care, while creating a safe and positive environment for them.
Alongside my nursery experience, I have also worked as a nanny for several families in Edinburgh. I have experience caring for both babies and toddlers, as well as supporting families with their individual routines and needs.
Most recently, I looked after 4-year-old twins before they started school. This involved caring for both children at the same time, keeping them engaged with age-appropriate activities, preparing meals, supporting their routines, and making sure they had a fun and enjoyable day.
Having experience across schools, nurseries, and private family settings has allowed me to understand that every child and family is different. I always try to adapt my approach to each child’s personality, interests, routine, and developmental stage.

I have a university degree on early years education.

We feel incredibly lucky to have Diego as our nanny. He is kind, calm, respectful, accountable, and genuinely wonderful with our child.
One of the things we especially appreciate is that he speaks Spanish with our child, giving them natural and meaningful exposure to the language. When they are together, Diego is fully present and engaged, playing, interacting, and giving our toddler his complete attention.
Diego is also very creative and thoughtful when it comes to finding activities that are fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for our child’s age. He always seems to come up with new ways to play, learn, explore, and keep our toddler interested.
He has such a calm and patient personality and somehow always finds a gentle way to convince our toddler, even during those tricky toddler moments. He connects with children naturally and treats them with kindness and respect.
Diego is dependable, responsible, and a great cook, which is another wonderful bonus. There are honestly so many positive things we could say about him. We trust him completely and always feel comfortable knowing our child is in his care.
We highly recommend Diego to any family looking for a caring, trustworthy, patient, creative, and genuinely engaged nanny. He is truly a pleasure to have in our family’s life!
