About Me
I am German and Chinese, born in Beijing, and speak mandarin fluently. Despite this, English is actually my mother tongue; I spent the first 3 years of my life in Singapore, the next 8 in Dubai, and, being sent to the all girls boarding schoo Roedean at 11, I have very much relished my final 7 in the Brighton. I have visited over 12 countries, and hoping to save up money for university :)
For my A levels I am learning History, English, Latin and I am learning Politics, Philosophy and Economics in my gap year for fun :) I am also learning German so I reach B2 proficiency by the time I am in my first year of university and can then safely add another (French or Spanish). Whilst I am orientated towards humanity subjects, sciences and maths are also easy; I have the mindset that exposure and persistency is most important for success in kids, and that with effort and consistency, everyone is capable of achieving anything they so desire! :D
I am also proficient in Horseriding, Badminton, piano, and enjoy cooking and baking very much! I’m all about protein and nutrition as I go to the gym and weight lift often! I grew up with cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, and hamsters and I love walking animals and pet sitting. I have also volunteered in Junior Roedean Academy and babysat my teachers son before. In my gap year, I am excited to hone and improve my existing skills while learning new ones!
My history with mental health:
I have been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD, and I know all the tips and tricks to thrive on it socially and academically. I have overcome childhood major anxiety and depression (diagnosed). I had a gaming addiction during my childhood which required an intervention to focus on reality and studying. My mother has BPD, my sister has OCD and severe tourettes, my father is nearing blindness (born with glaucoma). Needless to say, when it comes to mental health, I have much experience which has given me the confidence to support kids of all ages :D
*Kids are very impressionable and needles to say, I would NEVER ever provide advice directly to a kid without consulting or raising concerns to their parents/guardians.
My Experience
My friends and I looked after and taught a group of children every Wednesday in Year 12 for an hour in Junior Roedean Academy from ages 6-11 from local primary schools. We created essay plans, presentations, guided and encouraged these kids creatively. Some kids were quite challenging but it with patience and understanding, it was rewarding to navigate. I have also looked after my teachers 5 year old son before on sports day! He said I was his favourite, and we yapped in his madeup language while cheering for his dad in the teachers race, and talked lots about Star Wars and his favourite songs and ants. :D
My Qualifications
I’m looking to gain more experiences but I am in sixth form, I have completed my GCSES and I am in the process of finishing my A levels :)
