About Me

Hi, I'm Zaira. I'm an experienced nanny with many years of professional childcare experience, caring for children from babies through to teenagers.

I have a degree in Psychology and a Master's in Creative Writing, and I've always particularly enjoyed supporting children's emotional, social and cognitive development. My approach is warm, patient and individualised, and I enjoy getting to know each child's personality, interests, strengths and needs.

Creativity has always been an important part of my work with children. I enjoy play, storytelling, arts and crafts, educational activities and outings, adapting what we do to the child's age and interests.

After working as a professional nanny for many years in London, I am now based in Montrose and am looking for part-time nannying opportunities. I am also happy to consider occasional babysitting, including evenings and weekends.

I have experience with babies and toddlers, older children and children with additional needs.
I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, as well as current PVG Scheme membership for regulated work with adults in Scotland.

My Experience

I worked as a professional nanny for private families in London for many years, caring for children from infancy through to adolescence. My roles included both sole-charge and shared-care responsibilities, and I developed long-term relationships with several of the families I worked with.

My experience includes all aspects of day-to-day care, including feeding and weaning, nappy changing and potty training, sleep and daily routines, nursery and school runs, preparing meals, outings and age-appropriate activities.

Alongside practical care, I have always placed a strong emphasis on children's emotional, social and cognitive development. I planned creative and educational activities including arts and crafts, storytelling, games, reading, imaginative play and outings, adapting these to each child's age, personality, interests and developmental needs.

As children grew older, I supported their learning and homework, encouraged independence and problem-solving, and helped them develop confidence and emotional awareness. During the Covid lockdowns, I also supported children with their home schooling, helping with lessons and schoolwork and finding creative ways to make learning engaging. This included developing a longer-term art project in which we explored different artists, their work and historical context, before creating our own artwork inspired by them and bringing the project together in a book.

I have also supported children with additional needs and understand the importance of patience, consistency and adapting my approach to the individual child.

Throughout my nannying career, I worked closely with parents to provide consistent care and maintain open, respectful communication about their children's development, routines and wellbeing.

My Qualifications

BA Psychology (110/110) – Sapienza University of Rome, with a specialisation in children, adolescents and families. My dissertation focused on attachment theory and parent-child attachment.

Introduction to Childcare Practice (Home-Based) – part of the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home-Based Childcare.

CACHE-approved Introduction to Nannying/Childminding Practice.

London Governess Certificate.

MA Creative Writing – Distinction – University of Roehampton, complementing my interest in children's learning, creativity and development.

I have also completed Paediatric First Aid training on multiple occasions throughout my nannying career; my current certificate requires renewal.

My Availability

I am currently flexible regarding days and times and am happy to discuss arrangements with individual families. I am primarily looking for part-time nannying opportunities and am also available for occasional evening and weekend babysitting.
