My Summary

My Experience

I have experience caring for children through babysitting, including children who require additional assistance and a little extra patience, attention and support. I understand that every child has individual needs and that it is important to create a safe, comfortable and encouraging environment where they feel understood and supported.

Alongside my childcare experience, I previously served as Student Union President at Luminate Education Group, representing a diverse student community across 10–12 college campuses in Leeds. In this role, I worked with students from different backgrounds, including mature learners, vulnerable students and individuals with additional support needs. I helped promote student wellbeing, inclusion and engagement, listened to individual concerns, adapted my communication to different needs and signposted students to appropriate support.

I also gained experience presenting to groups, supporting classroom teamwork and team-building activities, and supervising exams and auditions. These responsibilities strengthened my communication, organisation, patience and ability to maintain safe and welcoming environments.

Through my different roles, I have developed strong interpersonal skills, reliability, adaptability and a genuine interest in supporting others. I would bring these qualities into my work with children and their families.

My Qualifications

I am currently studying part-time towards a BEng (Hons) Engineering degree with The Open University, with a particular interest in biomedical engineering and the application of engineering to healthcare and medical technology.

My previous educational background includes A-levels in Biology, Mathematics and Physics, as well as GCSEs including English and Mathematics. These studies have helped me develop strong communication, numeracy, scientific understanding, problem-solving and independent learning skills.

Alongside my university studies, I am committed to developing my childcare knowledge through additional training in child safeguarding, child development and food hygiene. I am also interested in completing a recognised Paediatric First Aid qualification.

I enjoy learning and continuously developing my skills, and I aim to bring that same dedication, responsibility and enthusiasm into my work with children and families.
