Hello, my name is Gemma and I'm a 40 year old married mother to a 12 year old daughter, Olivia. After working at John Lewis for 14 years I decided to leave and commit 100% into caring for families with newborns/children. I like to lend a helping hand to desperate parents in need of some much needed sleep as a self employed night nanny, which I've been doing for just over 11 years. I would care for your son/daughter throughout the night in his/her own surroundings allowing you and your partner to get some well deserved rest and awaken fresher for the next day.
I would also be free between the hours of 9.30am and 2.30pm in the day to help with babies/children. These hours are limited due to me having to pick up my own daughter from school. So to cover any short working hours, appointments or even time away for lunch with your friends/family would be possible. I can also do evenings for anyone wanting to go out for socialising etc for a few hours. I'm also available for a parent/parents who have also got night jobs themselves, for me to stay at your home as security for your child/children of any age/ages.
I'm a very patient, easy going, fun loving, trust worthy person and absolutely love what i do.
I am DBS checked, paediatric first aid trained, have had training in safeguarding, child development and food hygiene.
Any questions at all please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Obviously I've had the experience in bringing up my own daughter for the past 12 years, which personally I think is the best experience a nanny can probably have! I decided to go into this line of work after struggling with my own daughter at birth. The sleep deprivation was very hard, especially trying to also recover from a c section. So I can totally relate to other parents struggling at night.
2008 - I cared for a families baby daughter from the age of 4 weeks to 11 weeks old twice a week at night to help with the first initial sleepless weeks.
2009 - I cared for another families baby and still now sometimes do an overnight stay so they can socialise etc.
From September 2011 - 2013 I cared for a families 2 young children (aged 1 and 3 years) every Thursday evening and overnight stays when needed.
Feb 2012 - July 2013 I helped another family with a newborn every Mon, Wed and Fri in the day until a good feeding/napping routine was established.
May 2012 - I helped a Mother and baby with overnight stays while her husband was away on business for 2 weeks.
June - Sept 2012 - I worked over night every Tuesday and Wed night for a family with a 9 day old baby until she slept through taking the pressure off the parents and giving them some respite.
I have also done short night stints when a partner has worked away from home leaving there partner with the baby.
April 2013 - Present I am caring for a little boy who I've looked after since he was 4 weeks old.
Sept 2016 - January 2017 I did nights Monday - Thursday for a family with a 6 week old until she slept through the night.
June 2017 - Dec 2017 - Supported a family in Manchester 5 nights a week until there baby slept through - 2 weeks old when started.
Jan 2018 - July 2018 - Tue/Thur days childminding.
June 2018 - Helped a family for a few nights in Manchester whilst the mother recovered from surgery.
July 2018 - Present - Covering nights for a hospital doctor on night shifts herself (There son is 21 months old and sleeps through)
Sept 2018 - Covered nights for a vet on night calls. (Her daughter is 5 years old and sleeps through)
Nov 2018 - Worked 2 nights for a 5 week old, supporting mum at night whilst daddy was working away in India.
Dec 2018 - Aug 2019 - Worked 4 nights Mon - Thur for a family with a 6 day old baby.
Dec 2018 - Aug 2019 - Worked 1 night a week (Sundays) for a family with a 5 week old baby for respite.
Sept 2019 - Present - Respite a couple of nights a week for 12 week old identical twin girls.
Jan 2020 - Present - Helping a mother a couple of days with her newborn so she can rest.
Jan 2020 - Present - Caring for a 7 month old one day a week so the parents can work together on a new buisness.
I have 8 GCSEs from A - C one of them being in Child Care.
GNVQ intermediate in Health and Social care.
Paediatric first aid trained.
Understanding of child development, Safeguarding
Trained on delivering Epi pens.
I'm available every evening/night, Monday to Thursday or if you prefer, just for a few hours if you wanted to just go out for a meal/drinks/cinema etc.
The hours I do throughout the night are; arriving at your house to whichever time suits you (preferably before 11pm) and leave at 7am, maybe earlier depending on the distance. For 'normal' babysitting I'd arrive and leave at whatever time requested by yourself. I unfortunately don't work Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights. Plus I'd be free between 9.30am and 2.30pm (Inbetween school hours) during the week to cover short shift work/meetings/appointments etc. I have a car so willing to travel.
The easiest way to get in touch with me is by email, phone calls I may not be able to take depending on if I am working but have an answering machine so will always ring you back. Email me for any queries or questions.
I don't work school holidays (apart from night during the Summer holidays)
I do travel - full clean drivers licence.

Outstanding is the word I think, Gemma used to look after our son during my long days and night shifts that includes picking him from the nursery and some times taking him to the nursery
, she is responsible, nice, friendly and more important clearly interested in he job, She is caring, organised and well liked by our son. We feel that our son is in safe hands.
She is always willing to help and try to accommodate our emergencies and short notice cover as much as she can
I would definitely recommend her.

Thank you very much.
I'm glad to have given you the support you needed. Theo was a little beauty.
I recently employed Gemma for night nannying when I had an urgent situation after having some surgery and was struggling to look after my daughter as a result. It was really short notice and Gemma responded really quickly, also travelling quite far for the job. I hadn't done anything like this before and was struggling with my own recovery as well as an unsettled 4 month old so I was really grateful that she put my mind at rest straight away. Gemma is really friendly and I felt very comfortable with her in my home. She's also really flexible and I got the impression she's an expert in this kind of thing, though I'm sure would be a great day-nanny too. I got lots of good tips on how to settle my baby a bit better. And most importantly I got some sleep!
Will definitely be using her again in the future.
I have known Gemma for some time now and she has become a very good friend and a great companion for my children aged 4 & 2.
I contacted Gemma for help when I was emotionally exhausted and sleep deprived as my little one was quite poorly. She stayed over several nights to give me a rest and worked one morning a week baby sitting so I could manage chores or treat clients.
Gemma has been a godsend and I'm not a religious person!!
She is got a wicked sense of humor but very simpathetic which you need when you are feeling very vulnerable. She is very professional without being judgemental in anyway.
Anyone looking for a babysitter should seriously consider Gemma!!!
