About Me

****OFSTED RATING (May 2019): GOOD****

Still a few spaces available for childcare - all ages welcome. Please contact me for details.

We currently accept Government 15 hours free funding* for 2 year old's and 30 hours free funding* for 3-4 year old's. We also offer tax-free childcare* (*if eligible) and funding from Colleges and Universities. If in doubt please ask.

Hello my name is Pauline; I decided to become an OFSTED Registered child minder just over six years ago after working for 20+ years in Primary School education. My husband Steven (my child minding assistant) and I have three grown up children of our own, and three beautiful and lively grandchildren (ranging from 6 – 10 years old) whom we love spending time with.

The newest addition to our family home is our pet tortoise Hermie, whom the children seem to love watching when we let him out come out to play, especially when they watch him at feeding time as he eats his lettuce.

We pride ourselves on quality care in a loving environment were all children are treated equally.

We use lots of resources and activities to develop children’s physical, social and personal skills in a fun way, with too many to list here.

We have a lovely front garden perfect for teddy bears picnics on sunny days and splashing around in our wellies on wet ones. We have a play house to explore in the rear garden and so many toys, books and craft equipment to keep all children of all ages entertained, whilst allowing them to learn as they play. We also love to venture out to local parks, nature reserves, play groups, libraries and museums to name but a few outings that we regularly partake in.

We now have an allotment were we show children how to plant and nurture fruit and vegetables from seed to plate and teach them the importance of these foods in their diet. We aim to promote healthy eating from a young age.

With our 5* Food Hygiene rating from Preston City Council we serve healthy food and snacks with the occasional treat, all freshly prepared. The children often help out at meal/snack times with setting the table or creating their own culinary masterpieces, some of which they get to take home! We love to get creative through painting and baking and the children seem to love it too.

We live in the Fishwick area of Preston just off New Hall Lane, which has excellent motorway links at Junction 31 of the M6 and also close to Preston City Centre. The schools closest to my home are: St Matthew’s, St. Josephs and Ribbleton Avenue Primary.

Please feel free to contact us about care for your child/ren and arrange a visit to our lovely family home.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Pauline, Steven & Hermie :)

My Experience

Steven and I absolutely love being parents to our three grown up children (age ranging from 32 – 38 years old). We are now blessed with three grandchildren and love spending time together as a family or looking after the children when their parents are busy … or just need a break!

Previously to becoming a child minder I worked in a local Primary School for over 20 years, working with a variety of different age ranges, from nursery children to Year Six pupils.

I have also had the great pleasure of working with numerous children who require additional support, either due to medical, speech and language, and more specifically special educational needs such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and Asperger’s Syndrome.

My Availability

We try to be as flexible as possible to allow our Customers to manage other commitments as well as child care.

We are open each weekday (Monday to Friday) with core opening times of 08:00am – 17:30pm, but if you require child care earlier or later than these times Monday to Friday, please contact us with your requirements and we will see if we can accommodate your request.

We think that it is always best to ask and we will let you know if we are unable to help.

Due to the close locality to the schools listed above, we provide a before and after school child minding service to allow parents greater flexibility in working hours as we know how difficult it can be to juggle work and family commitments. This allows you as parents to drop off your child/ren in the morning and make your onward journey to work safe in the knowledge that both you and your child/ren will arrive on time and the same for after school so you can finish work and pick up without having to rush.

My son has been going to Pauline’s since he was 9months old and has really settled in well. The setting is nice with toys set up that he can access -as he loves exploring! He has learnt so much and walks in happily each morning, I get a brief report at the end of the day and at times pictures of him busy - which I love receiving.
