My name is Faye Ricketts and I am 23 years of age. Throughout my years in childcare I have taken on many extra responsibilities leading to new qualifications and widening my ability and skills. I am an extremely hard working person with a lot to offer. I always keep my attitude positive and will take new challenges head on. I am most defiantly a people person and can work with people of all ages, races and religion. I enjoy working as a team as I believe you can always learn more from others around you but am also very capable working as an individual. I like to set myself goals to ensure that I am always learning, achieving and growing as a person.
I started my working career as a teacher at a private centre. I have continued in this career path and throughout have shown great interest in management and leadership, events, PA role and computing skills.
Due to change in lifestyle and responsibilities, I now want to continue my career path and set new challenges for myself to better my future.
(October 2008 to Present) - Teacher/Lead Teacher, Computer Associates, Ditton Park, Riding Court Road, Datchet
Teacher in a Montessori School which is based in a large computer software company that offers it's employee's an outstanding quality of childcare for their children. Experience in role of lead teacher whilst training was taking place and have now taken on the role of lead teacher in the preschool environment permanently .
Initially working as a member of the Children’s Community team caring for children aged 18months-3years. Duties included supporting the lead teacher in settling new children and ensuring a nurturing, calm environment to help growth and development of the children, working alongside 3 teachers in planning and preparing activities for the children using the Early Years Foundation Stage, working in partnership with the parents, sole care in key children ensuring that observation and personal profiles are kept up to date and that everyday care routines are followed through.
I then moved onto working as a teacher in the Nido environment team caring for children aged birth- 18months. Duties included supporting the lead teacher in settling young children and parents into the center, parents visits and ensuring the best possible care and attention to the phase-in process, sole care of key children ensuring that observations and personal profiles are kept up to date, providing a nurturing and caring environment whilst working closely with the parents to ensure routine and stability for children. I also worked alongside 3 teachers in planning and preparing activities for the children using the Early Years Foundation Stage. I had also taken on the lead teacher role whilst the lead teacher carried out her AMI training. Whilst carrying out this role, my duties included sole care in supporting and taking responsibility of all members of staff, children and parents within the Nido environment, setting up the room ensuring that materials and care resources are prepared for when the children arrive, supporting the parents, ensuring time is allocated for staff and parent meetings and carrying these through, writing child reports, updating important child information and correctly displaying them for staff use and ensuring that all documents and files are prepared for new children and parents to ensure the best possible phase in for them.
In September 2011, I started working towards my NVQ Level3 and BTECH Level 3 in Management. I completed this in April 2012. After completing this I then went to support the lead teacher within the preschool environment whilst she carried out her AMI training. Here i developed my skills and knowledge with working with the children aged 3-5years. This included preparing children for school, ensuring that they had achieved to their best in numbers, shape, phonics, fine and gross motor skills and that all areas of development according to the EYFS had been met and assessed. I also prepared graduation and leaving parties for all of these children where a book was made to show their time within the centre and their development throughout with a certificate and present. I also phased children in from the children's community environment ensuring that they had the best possible phase in process and invited parents for a viewing of the preschool environment so they had an idea of what to expect from the preschool environment. In preschool I have also been working closely with the new Ofsted and EYFS changes and putting them into place within the classroom- new developmental checklist for each child. In return of the lead teacher, I reported all the changes and ensured a smooth transition for her and the children. i then worked alongside the manager and deputy for 4 months and developed my understanding of the running of the centre. During this time, I completed my Level 3 in Speech and Language for the under 5’s. Due to the lead teacher moving on to a new job, I then returned to the Preschool environment as permanent lead teacher which is the role I carry out at present.
