Warm, loving, enriched environment where all children shine!
Come and visit us so that you can see for yourself! We are situated just off Linthorpe Road, really easy to get to, on site parking and 5 min walk to the University of Teesside.
Hello my name is Allison, my nursery is called Happy Little Sunbeams Day Nursery, previous to this I was an Ofsted Registered Childminder and now have a nursery off Linthorpe road, Middlesbrough. I have cared for children of all ages for many years and I have a genuine caring and loving nature.
My staff are fully trained and we operate safer recruitment, very stringent interview process and a thorough induction programme. Parents are trusting us with their precious goods and we pride ourselves on the wonderful care we provide. The setting offers an interesting, welcoming and warm environment for your child and we have kept it very home from home.
I worked as a Probation Service Officer for 17 years, this was prior to me setting up my childminding business, I had my second child through IVF and decided to make the leap into childcare. During my job with the Probation Service I worked with families, involved with managing risks and safeguarding.
My children were in childcare in the past, so I understand your anxieties. I remember feeling so upset when I left my children and all I can say is after a couple of weeks your child will be fine and so will you when you feel safe in the knowledge that they are settled. You know when they are settled, they get used to the routine, they know that your coming back to collect them at the end of the day they soon adapt to this, Trust me, it does get easier!
In order to settle your child into the setting we work with you to support this transition, offering 2 hours free settling in sessions. It is also important to us that you and your child feels comfortable prior to them starting the setting and throughout their stay. We will work together with you to ensure that your child achieves their full potential and prepare them for school and life in general and help them to gain in confidence.
We constantly communicate with parents via the babysdays system that we use in our nursery, we are paperless! you will receive daily diaries, photographs of your child enjoying their time, menu's and observations, the list is endless, this system has proven to be extremely beneficial in regard to working together with parents and showing parents how their child is developing within the setting.
The staff have been with us a long time and love the work they do, we have staff in the setting with teacher status, most staff are either level 2 or level 3 trained. All staff are placed on a lengthy induction and safer recruitment is fully adhered to i.e. thorough interviews, references and checks, overseas criminal checks, enhanced DBS checked, fully first aid trained, trained in all aspects of childcare including Safeguarding, Fire Safety, food hygiene, prevent and lot's more we have a full membership with the NDNA.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER
We can provide a home from home experience for your child within our setting, the Nursery is based on Park Road North - off Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough.
We like to support any child or parent coming through our door and for them to feel part of the Happy Little Sunbeams family as many children have for many years previous. We have had some wonderful feedback from parents/carers on the progress their child has made since commencing the Nursery. We will do our very best to ensure that your child feels comfortable, safe and achieves the best they possibly can during their stay with us.
Stay and play opportunities for parents/carers to come into the setting to spend time with their child in the nursery and be involved in their play and activities. Children feel so important when we have stay and play so they can show you their friends, staff and their room and the work they do at nursery.
We update you daily via our online Babys days system, you will receive notifications of your child's day in nursery by way of photographs, diary, learning and development, newsletters, medication, policies and permissions.
Teaching and learning:
We will provide lots of wonderful activities, outings and groups e.g. sing and sign (we have a lady who attends during the week to teach the children sign language, dental hygiene and messy play). We also offer sing a lingo teaching Spanish lessons. We strive to ensure that your child enjoys themselves and feels settled in our setting and that they have an excellent relationship with their key worker. We provide a full curriculum of topics, activities and play, we complete observations and summative assessments of your child's learning and development, termly reports and statutory documents e.g. Age 2 year progress checks and transitions before reception age. We also meet with school staff to ensure that when your child is moving to school nursery the transition is smooth to support you as parents/carers and your child to enjoy the experience.
We fully adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage and the 7 Areas of Learning, We incorporate the areas into the play and topics that we will cover to help your child to develop in the areas of learning to prepare them for school.
1 Personal, social & emotional development
2 Communication & Language
3 Physical Development
6 Understanding the World
7 Expressive Arts & Designs
Food, drinks and health
We have an in-house cook who is trained in Level 2, Level 3 Food Hygiene and awareness of allergens. She has catered for all dietary needs over the time we have been open and she prides herself on the quality of food she provides. She involves the children in cooking activities and teaches them the eat well plate. We offer drinks bottles filled with fresh water all day long, juice or milk with meals. We received the GOLD award for healthy eating.
We ensure that the children are involved in our toothbrushing scheme, this is monitored by NHS and they observe us frequently to ensure we are meeting guidelines. Children have plenty of fresh air, either in our own outdoor area or to the local park, museum or play area.

I have four children... I all of them have been in childcare /nursery settings from being small... Due to my work and study commitments.. So i have been to a load of different people and nursery's over the years... But happy little sunbeams nursery is by far the best i have used... Their care and compassion and welcoming nature towards my youngest son is amazing he joined sunbeams in october of last year to be honest it feels like hes always been there... Your always greeted with a smiling face... Its always smells amazing either with smell of cleanliness or home cooked food for the children... My klayton is very shy little boy but once he is comfortable with his surroundings he come out his shell... The girls took this in board when klay joined them and they told me every day how he was opening up further and further.. Within a couple of weeks he was himself... He loves sunbeams and all the girls who look after him... I love how they know what he likes without me telling them... They have taken the time to work out this and build a relationship with him... Sunbeams are very flexible with my needs... And if i need something they are always happy to help me.. They always have amazing subjects and things going on to do with special dates of c the year.. Klays bday is october he had been there a matter of weeks and they made him bday card with what he loved at that time

Thank you for your wonderful review, I am so happy that you're happy. We love to care for your children and have had lot's of fun along the way. Love and best wishes from Allison and the team xxx
Savannah has been coming to happy little sunbeams for 2 years now she loves coming and has come on leaps and bounds. I am always amazed by how much she gets to do while there from adventures in the park water play painting messy play dressing up sing and sign they are always having so much fun. She know her alphabet numbers and can sing the phonics songs even I've learnt the actions. Allison becky and all the girls are amazing and I couldn't be happier with everything they do
My son loves everyday at nursery and has come on leaps and bounds since starting!
Every staff member knows who he is and they are always so polite. I'm always well informed of how his day has been an love reading his diary each day!
He has formed strong bonds with the staff and his face lights up which is really comforting for me when I leave him each day.
My son has numerous food allergies and happy little sunbeams are fantastic with dealing with this!
Lovely place.. highly recommended like a home from home!
Anybody looking for a childminder for their little ones this is the place to take them. Alison and her team are all amazing! My daughter has loved her time with happy sunbeams, particularly growing her own sunflower, crafting, painting etc. As a parent I can't believe how much she has come on and developed in her time with these girls. I feel that Alison goes the extra mile with these children and if I'm honest I didn't realise how much pre nursery education Mary would receive! She sings all the jolly phonics and alphabet and signs too! But most importantly for me Alison is a mother herself so she just gets it! When your leaving the most precious thing in the world with someone it's so good to know that they are looking after your child just as you would yourself.
I love them all and rate everything at Happy sunbeams 5 star
