Hello, we are Little Rabbits Childminders; two childminders (Rachel and Lucy), working together at Walcot, Telford, both Ofsted registered.
We are currently full until September 2022. We are friendly, fun, caring and responsible individuals, who really enjoy caring for children, helping them to progress and watch them learn and grow.
Rachel: Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Special Educational Needs, Level 5 Foundation Degree in Early Years Leadership.
Lucy: Level 3 in Childcare and Education.
We have over 10 years experience each with caring / educating children from birth to 16 years.
We are in partnership with another childminder in the Muxton area if you require childcare in that area. We also have an assistant who works with us too.
We understand it is difficult for parents to leave their child and we offer settling in sessions to make this transition easier for both the child and the parents.
We provide lots of educating activities to stimulate learning, and support children progressing to the best they can. We provide all meals for children, including weaning but do not provide baby formula. We include allergen free meals if your child has an allergy/intolerance, and alternative milks for children over 1 years if needed, this is at no extra charge.
We started childminding September 2014 and our most recent Ofsted report 2019 was rated Good with outstanding in managing behaviour.
Rachel: Previously an Assistant Deputy Manager in a nursery and before this, a Room Manager for the Toddler room. I have nanny experience from newborn including overnight stays and children with complex needs.
Lucy: Previously room leader of pre-schoolers and also toddlers. Nanny experience including overnight.
We both have experience of the baby room, toddlers and pre-school children in a nursery and have both worked as nannys to care for children in their own home, including overnight in their own home.
We have supported children with IEP's (individual education plans), which included children with speech delays, physical needs and medical needs. (These are now referred to as Educational Health Care Plan).
We have a very good understanding of child development, identifying needs early to support children with early intervention if needed. We have liaised with external agencies to support children's varying needs.
We care for a child with cystic fibrosis and due to cross contamination we cannot have any other child with CF.
We provide a calming environment and work together to support children. We have a good initiative with caring for babies and children, helping them to settle when upset. We are able to sterilise and make up bottle feeds for babies following the NHS guidelines and can provide food for children (including children with allergies and intolerances) and can support weaning for babies. We have experience of supporting children with serious and multiple allergies.
Rachel: I have done volunteering within two primary schools supporting children in year 1 and 2 for four years. This included supporting children with special educational needs and gifted and talented, as well as children of all varying abilities. I supported a child 1:1 with behavioural challenges. This volunteer work was alongside college and university courses.
I have experience with caring for premature babies, understanding their learning and development may be different to the 'norm' and can support them with exercises from physio and working together with parents and other professionals. I have experience of caring for newborn babies, ensuring their needs are met and are well cared for. I have also cared for children overnight from 11wks old to 11years old.
I have worked in a preschool room of a Montessori setting, supporting children and learning about the Montessori education.
We have both cared for twins (babies, toddlers, pre school, and school aged twins), ensuring they are treated as individuals and valued as unique individuals, and ensuring each of their needs are met and are both happy.
We enjoy helping children to develop to their full potential in all areas of learning and development and want to help them to be independent, achieve and be happy. We support children to be ready for school in various ways.
We believe a home environment as childminders (with different ratios to nursery), children will have more attention and time to develop at their full potential. We want to be able to give them more. We really enjoy supporting children in learning to read and write. We do lots of letter and number recognition and learning to write their name. We have children as young as 20 months learning to recognise letters, and learning to read before they start school. This is all depending on the individual interests of each child. We promote independence in all individuals.
Rachel: I have achieved a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Special Educational Needs, Merit Foundation Degree in Early Years Leadership (level 5). I completed a CACHE Level 3 Certificate,Award and Diploma in Child Care and Education 0-16years.
I gained Distinction, Distinction, Merit in a BTEC National Diploma in I.T Practioners (level 3).
I achieved 8 various GCSE's grades A-C including Cooking A, Science BB, Maths B, and English B.
I have been trained in epileptic seizures to give rescue medication and have experienced caring for children who have convulsions. I feel confident in knowing how to support a baby/child having a seizure. I care for a child with cystic fibrosis and support them with physio therapy including percussion, physiotherapy and medication on a daily basis.
We care for children who use hearing aids and are able to support them with working with families and the Teacher of the Deaf.
We have cared for children who are French, I have learnt a lot of French language to support these children developing dual languages. I also know some German language and really enjoy learning other languages.
Other courses I have attended are:
