"Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding”

Children thrive in the childminder's home. They are exceptionally happy and have very strong attachments with the childminder.

The childminder is an excellent role model and children's behaviour is impeccable. She uses highly successful ways to teach children how to behave well. She gives them very clear messages about boundaries and expectations.

Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder keeps parents regularly updated with the progress their children are making. Parents are complimentary about the childminder and would not hesitate to recommend her to others.

The childminder offers a home-from-home environment where children are extremely happy and content. The childminder encourages and supports children to do things for themselves at every opportunity. For instance, children clean the table before a cooking activity and confidently use a hose to fill a watering can outdoors. Children learn about safety in the childminder's home and local environment. For example, the childminder
uses role play exceptionally well to help children learn about how to call 999 in the event of an emergency. There are excellent opportunities for children to learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. For example, during a play dough activity the children make different foods and they discuss the benefits of the food groups they eat, such as protein, vitamins and carbohydrates"

Hello Parents/Carers,

My name is Fozia known as Foz and I am a kind, loving and loyal individual with a sound knowledge of raising children being a married parent of two. One who now lives and works up North and one who is still at home but works full time. I am a childminder based near Trowbridge College.

Please note I have had training in light of Covid and have adapted my practice and procedures to reflect this.

I am a qualified teacher and full time childminder (Fozzyminding childcare). I have been graded as an 'Outstanding teacher' and have outstanding references and reports from former colleagues and current parents.

I have taught as part of my CPD the childminding course for Wiltshire College Chippenham after my first year of successfully running my own childminding provision.

My specialism is teaching in the field of Special Educational Needs to include ASD and Foundation learning as well as having considerable experience in behaviour management. I am able to assess children’s needs instinctively as I draw upon my 20 years of experience in working with children with differing needs. (25 including my own son of whom has ADHD). When I assess a need, it’s done through observation where I am then able to feed back to you my honest formative and summative assessments as I closely monitor and observe your child’s behaviours and how they present during typical play. For example, a child may exhibit traits such as echolalia, stimming, signs of Arfid, avoidance behaviours, sensory or emotional responses to stimuli. They may have erratic or patterned behaviour, signs your child may have impulsive behaviours or an inability to focus typically for their age and stage of development. The list is endless and so not exhaustive.

I set up a department solely on my own for Wiltshire College in Chippenham for the new intake of learners with SEN and attachment, behaviour or emotional difficulties in 2010. I built excellent relations with Health visitors, social workers, SEND lead workers, CAMHS, local schools and counsellors to name a few. Unlike schools and Colleges, I am the Senco, the teacher and the safeguarding person. The person who ensures your child eats and drinks, is changed and monitored. Who also actively encourages your child to access the community safely to build upon social skills. Accessing the community is done from day one for age 2+ and later for younger children. I’m a walking risk assessment constantly assessing risks so safety comes as standard for childminders. Again, experience tells me that routine is key to reinforcing behaviour and expectations from the get go. After all, a behaviour is learnt after it is repeated 21 times.

So it’s imperative parents and carers are open and honest about their child’s needs from the very start so that I am able to assess whether I can meet the child needs. As of course I may already have children on roll with emerging need so have to be able to offer the best care to all children in my care. Each child should have equal attention. I have no physical support, it’s just me.

I have glowing parent feedback dating from 2014-2023.

I have had no founded complaints to date (2014-2023) I remain compliant of my registration with no breaches.

I feel blessed my past and present parents have supported me throughout my childminding career. My passion for detail and ensuring children are happy and comfortable is paramount to my positive feedback. Ofsted are very good at establishing this and as a result I have complete faith in the work they do to support me as a professional. I’m encouraged Ofsted recognised my ability to manage children’s behaviour and the care of the children through awarding me outstanding in these areas. :-)

I use a daily Whats App communication so that parents and carers can see the progress their child is making. (EYFS children only, not before and after school children as child development and progress is measured at school) I have vast risk assessments and policies and procedures.

You can see how your child is progressing against the EYFS as I monitor and assess them during play and learning activities against the 7 areas of development within the EYFS framework. For very small children I use child led learning, typically moving on to more structured planned learning for the older children, but I do encourage in the moment play.

The resources and activities I use include arts & crafts, building and construction, puzzles, reading, letters and sounds, phonics, role-play, cooking, and much more. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage when planning activities/child led play and in the moment planning. I do not have any pets but we do routinely visit most of the local
Parks, National Trust areas as I’m a member, Southwick country park and Fairfield Farm to see the animals. Clanger woods and Paxcroft Woods is also one of our favourite walks along with BOA along the canal where we do come across dog walkers. The children are taught not to approach dogs unless the owner says it’s safe to do so.

I aim to access the community at least two /three mornings a week. We access toddler groups, Trowbridge library, soft play in various locations including Trowbridge, Warminster, Bowerhill, Devizes, trips out to the local community including parks, garden centres, Fairwood Lakes, Longleat, Heaven’s Gate and even pop into the shops sometimes when we need to. I feel this is important as children need to learn how to present themselves well including knowing how to walk and behave sensibly when we are out in public. We receive lots of attention from passers by stating how well behaved and happy the children are. The children I care for soon learn to walk and not run in busy areas and how to address and greet new people. Also, stranger danger, how to cross the road sensibly from an early age using the “stop, look and listen” practice. I encourage children to look out for signs and symbols when out in the community too, to learn to press buttons on lifts and crossings and also how to use an escalator. We utilise my garden most days when it’s not freezing temperatures or downpours and routinely go out for a stroll. I know there is no such thing as inappropriate weather but inappropriate clothing. We love the crisp fresh air. I aim to instil real life independent skills as well as structured play which includes messy play, cooking and outdoors play. I am extremely passionate about teaching and hope to carry this natural flair on as your child grows and hits new learning milestones helping them to reach their maximum learning potential.

I am fully qualified in paediatric first aid to include SEN medical response. My son, husband, daughter and myself hold a current DBS. I have liability insurance through Pacey.

I will endeavour to keep up to date with new legislation as it evolves.

I am extremely hard working and reliable. I have a professional friendly personality with clear communication skills. I find that working with children is extremely rewarding. I have worked intrinsically with children for many years. This has always been reciprocated by the wonderful families I work with.

My Experience

I have 25 years experience in caring for children. I aim to give your child a home from home experience. I choose not to run a busy setting, yet a tranquil and relaxed home where children are loved and nurtured the same way I would hope anyone would care for my own children. I have up to four children per day as per my last Ofsted graded inspection in the early years age range close in age so that they are able to grow and learn together. I love seeing them evolve, learn and hit new 'wow' moments which I track as and when they arise. Everyone develops in their own time but are pushed to shine daily with effective communication skills and the ratio of 1-3/4 interactive activities. I mix individual one to one work with group activities. I endeavour to give all my mindees the quality time and attentive care they deserve. If it's a busy setting you want then a nursery or larger setting would be more suited to your needs. I encourage play between the children and allow them to play for as long as they’re happy playing before I intervene with activities. I find that at age 30 months + children enjoy imaginative play and make up their own games from not a lot.

I am a married mother of two. I’ve been married for over 25 years. I am a very proud mum. Both of my children enjoyed uni life. They are now both working their way through adulting and starting on their journey of independence into life. Finding their feet and working out which direction they’d like to go in life. They were both prefects at school/school leaders and are interested in healthy lifestyles, keeping fit and socialising. My son loves trekking and mountain walks, working out at the gym and 5km runs. My daughter enjoys eating out, socialising and visiting her friends from around the UK as well as travelling around the world. They both have a strong work ethic that I feel they have established this through watching myself and my husband both work our way through life.

We are fortunate enough to own another home in another country so we enjoy going back each July/August to relax after a hard year at work.

We're so pleased that Foz is our son's childminder, it has been a very positive experience so far. He settled very quickly, and is always happy at drop off and pick up. Foz organises lots of educational activities as well as lovely outings and keeps us updated throughout the day as well as sending a daily summary which we really value. She has also been really helpful and supportive with our son's fussy eating, somehow he eats and naps really well when he's with her! We can see the progress he's made already and I feel confident that he will continue to thrive in her care. I would recommend Foz to any parent looking for a kind, loving and professional childminder. Thank you Foz x

We have been soo fortunate to have foz as a childminder for our little boy. He has thrived in her care and thoroughly enjoys himself. It is a great setting, they are introduced to soo much: toddler groups, trips out, great activities and role play. Foz takes the time to understand and celebrate their personalities, helps foster their independence and teaches them skills they need when out and about that you can continue to implement at home. We have found her to be an invaluable support to us, she goes the extra mile to keep us updated on progress and development and has been a great resource and sounding board for us. Thank you foz!

My little boy started with Foz when he was only 8/9 months old. I was nervous to leave him with someone else but Foz made me and him feel so comfortable. She listened to my worries and kept me updated on how he was doing. My little one took to Foz and her family so quickly and he now asks to go to there on the days he’s not with her!

My son had some reflux issues and was prescribed some medication which was no problem for Foz. She knew a lot about his problem and was able to give me good advice.

My son is now 2.5 years old. He has made such brilliant progress in his development. Foz does a lot of educational activities with the children. She also takes them out and about. He goes to a music and dance class, toddler group, the library, soft play, Longleat, the cinema and he’s even been on the train to Bath! He has had some wonderful experiences with her. Foz keep his online profile updated and adds achieved milestones. It also states what she will be focusing on to help him reach his next goal.

Foz’s house is his second home now and she is my go to person for advice and support. My son will be moving on to nursery when he is 3 to prepare him for school but I have already paid the deposit to Foz for my next baby who isn’t even born yet! I’m not ready to let her go just yet. You cannot get a better childminder than Foz!

My daughter has been going to Fozzyminding since she was 9 months, she is now 2.5. She absolutely loves Foz and asks to see her every time we get in the car!

Foz is really kind and caring to the children, and helps them learn to be independent, for example helping with potty training.

She takes the children out all the time, and does a wide variety of activities. My daughter is always bringing home arts and crafts, as well as bits and bobs for Easter, Halloween etc.

I highly recommend Fozzyminding childminders, my daughter has flourished in her care.
