About Me
Hello,
We are a Husband and Wife team, looking after children in our home. We have been childminding now for over 23 years. We both hold childcare qualifications, are fully Ofsted registered, and both hold Certificates in Paediatric First Aid. We are parents ourselves to 25
and 23 year old boys and a 16 year old daughter. Both ourselves and our children have DBS certificates which are updated yearly. I can't upload my own DBS certificate as it is held by Ofsted (many years ago, when applying for a CRB certificate which it was named before DBS, they went straight to Ofsted to be held on file there. Keeping them with yourself is something that is practice nowadays. As I have been registered with Ofsted for all this time, mine is still in the old style system).
Over the years we have looked after many children of all different ages, the youngest being 11 weeks old. We have a large folder full of lovely cards and letters, references and thankyou’s that are available for you to view.
We care for a total of 6 to 8 children in the early years (pre-school). We offer a home from home setting whilst still covering the same curriculum that nurseries do. This is called the EYFS and is a requirement of Ofsted. Basically it tracks your child's progress, enabling us to plan fun activities and outings that will further enhance their learning. We love to involve you as Parents as you know your child better than anybody. Any 'Wow' moments you tell us about or any photos you provide can all be added to their Learning Journey. You will receive regular updates from us and your child’s information can be viewed at any time. We use an online system called Baby's Days to upload photos and information during the day that you can log in and view from either a computer or via the app on a phone or tablet. (This is an encrypted and totally safe system, further details can be provided).
We have a few pets, namely 3 friendly dogs (non moulting dogs that don't leave hairs or a smell, or affect asthma - all Miniature Schnauzers). The children love the dogs, the youngest is often running up and down the garden thinking he is one of the kids. They all laugh and shout his name. (Only short supervised periods). We also have 4 friendly rats. Yes rats! People don't realise how friendly rats are. The children don't handle them but can watch them at times. Children will never be left unaccompanied with any animals.
We do lots of activities, crafts, outings to playgroups and soft play centres, libraries, feeding ducks, visiting parks etc. Our setting is home from home, friendly and welcoming, and above all else, full of fun and love.

My Experience
As parents ourselves we have been through many trials and tribulations that come about from having children. There's not many situations that we haven't faced as either a parent or a childminder. We often find that children who don't settle at nursery enjoy it here as it is more of a home from home whilst having lots to do and there is more 1 to 1 time here. We have faced 'difficult' children (Parents description), children who appeared to struggle with their behaviour, we have met them with routines and reward charts, and rules they can follow. Sometimes this is all they need in order to settle and know they feel secure. We have had babies that have never been away from Mummy, with lots of love and cuddles and several settling in sessions they have been absolutely fine. We have experience with autism and ADHD and also ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and OCD. We have been through potty training many many times over the years. We have had several very young babies over the years and are quite at home with cuddles, bottle feeding, feeding expressed milk, weaning and all the care involved with your most precious bundles.
My Qualifications
Both myself and my Husband hold the CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
We both hold First Aid Certificates including Early Years Paediatric First Aid. These are updated every 3 years as required.
I hold Level 1 Safeguarding and Child Protection & also Safeguarding Children for Designated Safeguarding Leads.
We both hold level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering. We are registered with the Environmental Health Agency.
We undertake further training as we go along, attending various workshops and courses in order to keep updated with current practices and anything that would be of benefit to children or their Parents.
We both hold full clean driving licences and own 2 cars. The cars are fully insured and serviced regularly.
Public Liability Insurance in place along with Employers liability to cover assistants.

Our usual hours of work are from 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday however should you have any special requirements, please do not hesitate to discuss those with me. Early starts are available.

- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
£48 per day - preschool children (Not based on hourly rate)
