Hi my name is Pauline
I live in Wishaw with my husband, i have two grown up sons who no longer stay at home.I have just been awarded joint winner of the Nancy Oven Trust Awards for October 2017 .What a great Honour to have received this for the Play at Home Award. I have received this award for the endless play opportunities that I provide for children in my care.
I am a Grade 6 registered childminder which I was graded in September 2018.
People always say to me ‘I couldn’t do your job, you must be crazy’ and I am afraid they are right, I am crazy, crazy about children.
Watching them grow and develop, learn new skills and see them try new things for the first time.
I get excited with every child, every day, every time.
Seeing the child’s face light up at the mention of a new game,a new activity, trying something that they have never done before, seeing a child with learning difficulties achieve a new goal.
Watching the excitement on their face when they tell their parents what they have been doing all day or showing them their art work that they have done that day.
That’s what I do every day, that’s why I love my job and I wouldn't change a thing or any of the children I have cared for over the twenty three years or the great parents I have had.
My registration certificate and Care Inspectorate inspection report are available for parents to see. I am also a member of the Scottish Childminding Association and hold current liability insurance and policies.
I have a good understanding of children, basing my teaching around them using their interests, learning styles and personalities to plan our days. I support and encouraging personal development with autonomy and creativity being top priorities, helping develop social interaction and understanding differences in others.
I also supporting you, the parent in bringing up your child with my expertise and 23 years of childcare experience and training.
We all want the very best for our children, and as a small setting I am in a fantastic position to be able to offer a home from home environment, there is currently a trend towards intellectual education for young children, but children still need to play, move, get enough exercise and discover their own bodies.
My aim is to support each child through their own development stretching them when needed and letting them lead where they want their learning to go (you'd be amazed how much a child can learn from a fascination with The Gruffalo, Fish, Buzz Lightyear with the right questioning and activities provided)
Mostly my job means I get to do the things I love like playing and planting in the garden, eat ice lollies in the sun, play in the snow, collect conkers, bake and so much more - all with little people who are discovering the world which adds to the magic.
I have been selected to undertake the role of an Early Years Monitor for Children in Scotland on behalf of The Scottish Childminding Assocation
I have completed a four day course with the Scottish Childminding Assocation for Community Childminding Service and i am now a Community Childminder.
I believe my service offers the very best of both worlds providing the expertise you would expect from a quality nursery but in a comfortable home from home environment, with low adult:child ratios. "A professional service with a very personal touch.
I have a warm welcoming home, where the children can feel happy and secure.
I am a fun, loving, caring, genuine person who adores caring for children and helping them develop to their full potential.
I provide a home from home childcare service for the children when mum and dad have to go work within a safe, warm and secure home.
While in my care your child will be looked after within a safe, stimulating, fun and loving environment
The home environment I provide enables children to make choices and develop at their own rate, with careful planning and observations I ensure each individual childs needs are met
I work with parents to provide a varied curriculum so that each child in my setting is valued and has the chance to achieve their potential in a fun and stimulating enviroment.
I have been a registered childminder for 23 years and I love the children, the challenges and rewarding experiences the job brings.
There is nothing more rewarding doing this job than the smiles on the childrens faces and the knowledge knowing that they are happy and safe while in my care.
I am regulated by the with SCSWIS(Care Inspectorate) which replaced the Care Commission on the 1st April 2011.
I am a member of the Scottish Childminding Association.
In 2009 I was delighted to be named as Childminder of the year by the Scottish Childminding Association and was honoured when they asked me to become one of their Vice Presidents which i accepted as this keeps me up to date with current childcare issues.
I am a SCSWIS registered Grade 6 Childminder at my inspection In September 2018
A Stimulating environment maintaining safety, personal hygiene, and healthy activities for all the children
Creating a continuity of care which helps children and parents to feel happy, safe and secure.
Helping children to develop emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially which encourages confidence in all life skills from babyhood throughout their school years.
I have a large selection of play materials -indoor and outdoors available to help your child's individual development, learning and understanding of the world.
I provide parents with a written diary daily and daily sheets which gives highlights on their child's day and can be a tool for parents to communicate any needs back to me.
I always get phone calls from parents asking me for advice and the most asked question is Why should I Choose a Childminder? and here Is what I tell them.
Registered Childminders offer flexible home-based childcare in a family environment rather than the more institutional environment of a nursery.
They are inspected regularly by the Care Inspectorate to ensure they meet or exceed The National Standards and you can check their inspection report on line and they are fully insured.
Childminders can attend toddler groups, softplays, visits to the zoo ,trips to the parks, etc but this is the childminders choice as all childminders are different.
Childminders and family members aged 16+ are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.
Small numbers of children with a childminder means each child can receive the individual care and attention that they need and children can thrive in a small group usually of two or three children - a ratio that nurseries can not hope to achieve.
Parents have the satisfaction of knowing that both they and their child will be forming a relationship with just one carer.
Recent research has shown that children benefit from care in a family style environment, where they can bond with a regular carer.
Brothers and Sisters of all ages can be looked after together. Childminders can look after children from babies to teenagers offering an unrivalled continuity of care. You,your child and your family end up becoming part of the childminders ever extended family .
Childminders have flexibility around meal times, sleep times and planned activities. Hours can also be far more flexible than those of a nursery, especially valuable when parents work part-time or unusual hours.
Childminders can pick up and drop off at schools and nurseries but it depends on the individual childminder.
All childminders are different, and parents can choose the one they find most suitable for themselves and their child and can visit childminders while they are working.
Many parents prefer their children to be in the less institutionalised setting of a childminder's home, rather than a nursery.
Childminders offer greater flexibility because they work at home. If you have unusual hours, special needs or irregular work patterns, childminders are often the best option.
I have been selected to undertake the role of an Early Years Monitor for Children in Scotland on behalf of The Scottish Childminding Assocation
I have completed a four day course with the Scottish Childminding Assocation for Community Childminding Service and now have become a Community Childminder.
I am a SCSWIS(Care Inspectorate) registered Graded 6 Childminder.
which replaced the Care Commission on the 1st April 2011 .
I have just had my inspection and i have been given a Grade 6 in September 2018
I have been lucky to work with 4 weeks old to 14 year old children and have learnt that the importance of planning activities is to suite each childs stage of development and to make the activities fun.
I have been in Childcare for 23 years.
I believe that involving play into every childs daily routine is educational and this will benefit your child. I treat every child as an individual.
I have had every age range from 4 weeks to 14 years old and i have loved caring for everyone of them.
I still keep in touch with alot of the children that i cared for and also get regular visits from some of them and invites to their special events in their life as we are just one BIG happy family here.
My childminding premises are spacious and occupies the entire ground floor of my house as well as a childrens playroom which is child orientated with a wide range of stimulating toys, books, games, food stall and kitchen and a good size secured back garden and decked area.

We play outside in the garden. We run, jump, climb, ride and explore. We play with all the outdoor toys. We grow things like potatoes, strawberries, carrots and flowers in Our Allotment and learn how to care for them and taste them. We express ourselves with our large outdoor Black Board and our outdoor paint board in the garden.
We dig and find all kinds of animals and insects in the garden.
We use our imaginations and make pretend food with our Mud Kitchen
We make new Friends, become part of an every extending family, have lots of fun and new experiences.
We learn that after we have done all this our bodies will need a rest to recover and before you know it ,its time to go home and then when you come back next time we start all over again with all the fun
I plan activities weekly for the children to promote their well being and development whilst ensuring their safety at all times.

My wee boy has been going to Pauline since he was 7 months old, he will be 3 in September. He absoutely loves going to Pauline and loves spending time with all of the children, who he asks for all the time. Their time is spent doing LOADS of different activities that has stimulated all of his learning and milestones. My wee boy often brings home loads of arts and crafts/baking that he has made. He gets loads of outdoor play and often goes to toddler groups, book bug, softplay as well as loads of different day trips etc - he has came on loads and is very outgoing thanks to all the socialising. He gets a range of snacks and meals included that are healthy and well-balanced. Pauline is very friendly, caring and professional. Pauline has also been very flexible with our crazy work schedules and will always accommodate and help out when she can. I feel like my wee boy is part of the family and I would highly recommend Pauline's Childminding services.
My Daughter went to Pauline 2 days a week and absolutely loved it! Pauline helped Holly come out her shell and brought her on leaps and bounds. Everyday is different from going to soft play, toddler groups, book bug, to days where they make and learn in the house. Pauline incorporates learning into her everyday routines and this definitely helped Holly with her learning of colours and shapes. Pauline goes above and beyond her duties of a childminder which is shown when holly would come home with beautiful pictures and things she had made as well as a gift for special days such as mother's day or christmas. Pauline is caring, patient, kind and thoughtful, everything you need and want from a childminder.
Pauline amazes me, how she gets on with all the kids all kind of ages.My two girls love going there and she always welcomes us with big smile in the morning.
Her house is very well organised, extra room just for play and a nice garden with toys.
Pauline organises kids time well, she takes them to softplay, for walks, bookbugs, do some arts and crafts and baking at home, as well.
I always pick up my girls and they are both smiling and happy and sometimes don't want to leave.
Since my 1.5yo daughter was taken away from nursery she made huge progress and I can see she is very happy and confident in Pauline's house.
I'm really happy that I found Pauline after I moved in to Wishaw area.
