Hi, I am a home-based childminder located in Symonds Green/Old Town area and have been childminding since 2000. My last OFSTED report (February 2018) gave me a GOOD rating in all areas. Currently I will have a vacancy for an under school age child from September 2020 so if you are interested please take a look at my profile.
I have two grown up daughters, the eldest is in full time work and has just recently moved into her first house and my other daughter has just completed her degree at Hertfordshire university, gaining a first in educational studies and has just started a full time job.
I have a very loving, fun and friendly environment in my home which is set out appropriately for the children - the living room is a place for the children to play and run around and the dining room is for the children to draw, take part in activities, play games and eat. I have a spare room upstairs for any child that requires sleep, away from the other children. I check on them regularly and I also have a child monitor. My home is comfortably furnished and equipped enabling children to make good use of the space provided which is well organised and child focussed with hazards minimised so that the children can move around safely. I follow the curriculum of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
I ensure the children are always happy, I place toys out in the living room every day for them to play with, these are changed on a weekly basis to keep children interested and stimulated. I have a large variety of games and books which are easily accessible for them.
I have a good sized garden with gates both sides which are securely bolted making it secure for the children to run around in with plenty of outdoor toys to play with. I am in good walking distance of the local school, playgroups, parks and the town centre, I also attend mother and toddler groups and the local childminding group. During school holidays I join other childminders for days out to parks, museums and zoos/wildlife parks, weather permitting.
Having had two children myself I feel that this is the best experience, I feel very proud of both my daughters who are independent and doing well in their chosen areas of expertise. I have been childminding for 19 years. My latest Ofsted report gave me a GOOD rating.
I have had a range of ages through my setting ranging from 3 months through to 11 year olds.
At present I look after a 2 year old boy who attends Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.00-5.15 and a 2 year old girl that attends Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.45-5pm.
Herts Quality Standards
Paediatric First Aid
And lots of other interesting courses
At present I will have a vacancy, from September 2020, either full or part time, for an under school age child.
I work from 8am to 5.30pm but I'm flexible if you require different hours.

Our 2.5 year old is with Linda since he was 12 months old and he loves it every single day!
When we started with Linda, my son settled in immediately, and remains to be happy to be dropped off at Linda’s ever since. When we pick him up, he is always greeting us with a big smile and shout of joy.
In general our boy is fine with new faces or new places, which I believe it is due to he is well taken care of and receives plenty of assurance from Linda.
I also notice my son has picked up very good manners though Linda’s minding, he knows how to wash his hands by himself before eating, uses fork and spoon very well while eating, he can take his shoes off and jacket off after he gets home or cover his mouth while caughing, etc. All these small things I can tell Linda is not just taking care of my son but also teach him how to do things by himself, encourage him to learn new things and do it on his own.
Linda writes a daily diary recording what my little boy has done during the day, where they went, what he ate, how long the nap was and whether he pooed and also his learning progress, things he has achieved. To me, it is always the best moment of the day reading it and talking to my son what he has been doing at Linda's.
In the morning, Linda usually play with my son at her home with the toys she provides, which she changes on a regular basis to create new experiences. Linda combines playing with teaching, such as shapes, colours, alphabets and numbers. Sometimes she goes to the supermarket with him (by foot or car) and twice a week to playgroups and my son loves all these outdoor activities with Linda.
What I really like is through the diary and daily chats with her, we know our little one’s daily activities and developments. We also get a learning journey which shows all the development milestones and the feedback of where needs improvement.
I can’t thank Linda more for taking so well care of my son!
