About Me
I have been an Ofsted registered childminder in Camden more than forty years. I have three grown up children one of which still lives at home with me. My aim in caring for children has always been to provide a high quality service with loving care, education, fun and enjoyment in a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment; I take care to work in partnership with parents to promote the learning and development of each child. I also strive to encourage a positive attitude in children by recognising the diversity in the community and welcoming parents/carers and children from various ethnic cultures.
My childminding setting is located within 10 minutes of Kilburn Park and Maida Vale underground stations. Kilburn High Road station is just around the corner from our quiet, residential area
My Experience
I have over 40 years experience caring for children in the Early Years register.
My Qualifications
I hold a Level 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
I hold a Batchelor of Arts (BA) in childcare - early years.
As a member of the Professional Association for Childcare in Early Years. (Pacey): I regularly attend training to reflect on my practice.
I have obtained numerous Continous Professional Development CPD certificates.
All my EYFS framework is updated regularly.
EYFS requirements: valid First Aid and Safeguarding Certificates.

My Availability
I am currently available to care for two children age between 3 months and five years of age. I will have another vacancy starting September when one of my mindees starts school.

Mary McCartney has been caring for our 3 year old son Ben since September 2019 and until we moved (Sept 2020) she looked after our now 6-month-old daughter Lily as well.
We strongly recommend her as a childminder and we are very sorry we have moved as the children miss her a great deal – we were very lucky to have found her.
Mary has a wonderful manner with children, and has developed a really strong and positive relationship with both of ours. She has managed to balance the professional side of following all the government and EYFS guidelines with actually providing a personalised and real relationship, which is tricky. As a secondary teacher myself, I know how difficult this can be! She is always coming up with fantasticly creative and varied activities for Ben while also ensuring that Lily is included, which is a rare skill.
Mary regularly reflects on the type of activities she comes up with, so that things don’t get stale, and that Ben in particular, gets stretched and challenged to do things beyond his current skill set and so never really gets a chance to get bored! I love hearing him describe what the new skill of the day was when I collect him.
Mary has many years of experience looking after young children and this is evident as soon as you meet her. Her treasure trove of educational toys and games in the playroom that she has built up over the years is like an Aladdin’s cave. It’s the perfect combination.
Pre-corona, a typical day involved a trip to one of the local drop-ins, Libraries and playgroups, or on warmer days, the park or playground. They had such a lovely busy schedule. She has really clear and consistent rules about how to manage a group of children going out and about and this has fed through so taking my two out and about is significantly easier.
We really appreciate the level of communication from Mary as to how the children are doing – we are always kept in the loop with regular text messages, photos and reports on how Ben and Lily have been that day/week.
Mary is also incredibly flexible and accommodating around drop off and pick up times; she was so helpful in dealing with the strange timings of maternity appointments, and was even willing to have the kids on the weekend just before we moved so I could clear some boxes.
Overall we are extremely happy with the level of care our children received with Mary and I would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a childminder in the local area.

My son has been with Mary since September 2017, he is now 3 and I have been nothing less than pleased with the care and support she gives the children under her care.
Mary is very patient and loving, my son really loves going to her house, she spends time ensuring the children have different types of play as well as educating them in fun and interesting ways. With a whole room dedicated to play, the children have a clean, safe and spacious environment where they can let their imagination blossom. The food is all mostly home cooked nutritious meals, cooked in a 5 star hygiene rated kitchen (which smell so delicious, even at 8AM) and I’m so pleased that he eats all his food and even asks for more.
Mary is now helping the children prepare for ‘big school’ as they’re off to reception in September, she ensures daily that they have a choice of educational activities to complete, from pen control to ABC’s. Again, I am so pleased with everything Mary does with and for the Children and will be sad to not see her cheery enthusiastic in the mornings which perks me up for my day!

Mary has been a part of our family for more than two years and we could not be happier.
Mary was really patient and loving on the first few weeks when our little one year old was having problems getting used to the new routine. Our son is now 3 years old and we have seen a fantastic transformation all thanks to Mary.
Mary takes the children to the local children centres in the mornings, where they can socialise and burn their energy. At her home, she has an incredible selection of educational toys for all age ranges. Every day our child has the opportunity to play with something new. She reads stories and sing songs and has been teaching him many things from numbers to phonics.
Our son was premature and was a bit behind in several areas, but thanks to Mary he is now able to eat on his own, use the potty, has a much better range of vocabulary, has great manners (always says ‘thank you’ and ‘please’) and he is a sociable and happy boy.
Mary has been very understanding and flexible when we have had commitments at work or we have been stuck in public transport, what is very appreciated.
We want to say thank you to Mary, because when we are at work we know that our boy is in the best hands, and we obviously highly recommended her.
