I am a married mother of one child (aged 13 years). My daughter attends high school.
Milking Bank Primary School is the school I currently provide services to and from.
I am registered with Ofsted and have been childminding since June 2014. I had my last inspection in June 2016 and my provision has been rated "Outstanding".
My husband is registered as my assistant, which enables him to spend time with me and the children when he is home (therefore providing a real "family" feel - home-from-home experience).
Together my husband & I also run a children's Health & fitness club called Groovy Moovers and we encourage our minded children to take part in this program if they are with us that day/time and are within the required age limit.
I have lots of experience of children and working with them and continually attend training to improve my skills.
Our family has a pet tortoise called Shelzo. The children are able to see, ask questions about and stroke/hold him (but only with adult permission and with supervision).
I also have a small toy breed Maltese dog called Orla who is very friendly.
I offer a friendly home-from-home environment and the children & their safety are always my first priority.
Since Sept 2017, I have also offered Private tutoring from my home for children studying SATS and/or 11+ examinations and/OR primary aged children needing more help with their Maths, English or Science (aged 5 - 13yrs). Spaces for private tuition are very limited.
When I left school I went to college to qualify to be a nursery nurse and as such I worked in various settings including private day nurseries (baby & toddler rooms); A children's ward (Stafford hospital) & Primary school (Reception & year 1).
I also worked over several summers for the local authority running Summer play schemes for children in the borough.
I have been childminding for over 6 years now and was rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted in June 2016.
I am the founder and company director of a fitness and exercise club for kids called "Groovy Moovers" - A before school fitness club specifically aimed at children aged 4-10years.
I have a daughter of my own and several nephews and nieces who I see regularly.
I also have experience teaching college students and hold a level 4 teaching qualification.

Parents must carry out their own checks and references on childcare providers to ensure that they are completely happy before enaging in the use of their services.
I can honestly say Val has always strived to provide first class childcare always thinking of new ways of learning, plenty of games to keep the children happy and entertained whilst also providing a clean and efficient environment e.g., breakfast and cleaning teeth etc. She always played an active role in enhancing my son’s education and fitness activities whilst also keeping myself updated on his learning journey whilst being in her care.
Only recently during these uncertain times, Val set up a Christmas Colouring Competition as a Christmas party was not able to go ahead due to COVID, therefore to keep the children upbeat she set up this competition which resulted in the winner receiving Christmas goodies.
I am sad to say that Kyle is leaving the childminding group but at this time due to unforeseen circumstances I can now take on the school run and no longer require Val services at the present time.
Highly recommend very good with my son very polite and friendly, my son loves going there and I am very happy with the care that is provided 😃
Response by Val Monk on 04/09/2020:
Thank you so much for this lovely review.
I look forward to watching your son develop and enjoy his time here further. I hope to be of service to you both for many years to come! :)
My little girl loves going to Vals which is my main concern. I am completely confident that she is safe, secure and happy to allow me to concentrate at work. Vals policies are in place to give me peace of mind. Val is flexible if I've asked for additional cover or a change in hours and she understands my needs as a parent and my daughters needs under her care. I can recommend Val to anyone looking for a structured and happy environment for their little one!
