About Me
I am a professional nanny, currently working as self-employed, providing part-time or emergency childcare on an ad-hoc basis.
As a qualified early years teacher I am a specialist in learning and development for children under 5. My 15 years experience working with children and babies of all ages means that I'm also very skilled at building a strong rapport with children to help them settle well with me even for short-term placements. The key is being caring, calm and in control - as well as being fun of course!
I can work as a sole charge nanny or in a nanny share role and I am also happy to work alongside parents who want direct support with early education, weaning, toilet training or establishing routines.
I am registered with Ofsted, the DBS update service, and the tax-free childcare scheme. I am fully insured and keep up to date with first aid, safeguarding and regulatory training.
I'm originally from Ireland and I have lived in Hastings for the past 5 years. I have 2 children aged 20 and 16.
My Experience
I have been working as a nanny for the past 6 years, prior to which I worked in a nursery school and as an OFSTED registered childminder.
I am passionate about working with young children and providing them with the stimulation, fun and loving care they need to thrive.
I believe that children need the reassurance of a structured routine for meals and naps but they also need to have a variety of opportunities and experiences and they need an environment where they are supported to follow their own interests and learn through play. I place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and the value of visiting parks, farms, children's centres and museums and socialising with other children.
I employ positive behaviour support techniques and will not use a 'naughty step' or other punitive approaches.
I can provide home-cooked meals and do appropriate housework.
I have experience working with children with special educational needs and I will always aim to work with parents to cater to the individual needs of each child.
My Qualifications
I completed my pgce at the Institute of Education and qualified as an early years teacher (EYT) which involved assessed work placements in various settings with children aged from 0 to 5, and studying wide-ranging aspects of child development, special educational needs, and learning through play.
I also have a first class honours degree in sociology and anthropology from Goldsmiths University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Childhood Studies from Roehampton University.
I have up to date paediatric first aid and safeguarding training and I have undertaken various short training courses over the years including speech & language, behaviour management, and food hygiene.
My Availability
I am available for part-time, ad-hoc or emergency childcare.
I charge for a minimum of 3 hours per booking.
I am not available for permanent full-time positions or for ongoing after-school childcare.

Grace is an exceptional childminder. She has an amazing ability to communicate with children, and is authoritative and clear as well as being very fun and caring. There is always a clear plan for the day, and no day is the same! Grace has helped us to master potty training and has given lots of advice with all the things we’ve been finding challenging. Her experience and wisdom makes you feel very reassured. I’d recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone!

We first met Grace when my youngest was 5 months, and I was instantly put at ease. Grace was able to connect with my daughter from day 1 and built a lovely relationship with her. My daughter treats Grace with the same excitement/welcome as she does her actual Nanny!! She also had my eldest (6) during the summer. Both girls adore her and my eldest is always asking why she can’t have a day off school to see Grace!
Grace is a kind, caring and incredibly warm person, and she blew me away daily with her early years knowledge. Grace always planned out engaging, educational and fun activities for both of my daughters, lots of outdoor adventures and she has a great knowledge of local groups and activities to take part in to allow my youngest daughter to socialise with others.
We could not recommend Grace enough, we miss her so much I am always trying to think of reasons to book her for the day!

Grace connected instantly with my 18-month old daughter and we are both so fond of her. She built a wonderful, strong rapport with my daughter from day 1. She is a lovely and warm person with a wealth of early years knowledge. I was initially anxious about my daughter's sleep, but Grace managed to get my sleep fighting baby down for her nap easily.
Grace thoughtfully planned out engaging, educational and fun activities for my daughter, following her interests and providing lots of outdoor adventures. She also encouraged opportunities for socialisation with other children. Grace also supported me through some sleep issues and potty training methods and was always willing to answer any questions or concerns.
I highly recommend Grace, we miss her already!

Grace started to look after our daughter when she was 8 months old. She immediately put us at ease with her confidence, knowledge and lovely and happy personality. Grace really was a joy to have around and was inventive and creative with thinking of activities for our daughter to keep her busy!
Grace has a wealth of knowledge on a range of different aged children and was really helpful with giving advice and help when I had any queries or worries.
I highly recommend Grace as a nanny!

Grace helped us to take care of our baby when we were in St Leonard's for a couple of weeks. She was able to quickly form a bond, and had just the right way of stimulating her playfulness and curiosity, with encouragement and genuine tenderness. Grace also took care of some naps and a couple of night time wakings, watching for what would be most helpful to let our baby be her best and happiest (and sometimes snooziest) self.

Our three girls had such a lovely time with Grace. She is a really calming presence in the house and had a brilliant number of activities for our kids (ranging 1-7 so not that easy!). They are all asking when she will come back already!
I would really recommend Grace to anyone.

We have used Grace this summer for ad hoc care for our 2 year old boy. He hadn't had too much childcare previously and after a few months at home with us and no other adults during lockdown I was feeling anxious about how he would cope. I needn't have worried. He immediately bonded with Grace and has really enjoyed his time with her over the past few weeks. Grace has been confident, calm and caring but also a whole load of fun. She used some brilliant techniques to help form an attachment with our toddler and I feel like he has really gained from spending time with her at the park, in the woods and playing games at home.
Our older two (5 & 7yrs) have mainly been at activity camps whilst Grace has been with us but in the windows of time she has had with them too she has been fantastic at engaging them all.
We will miss her!

Grace has been a wonderful nanny to our two children this year. We knew as soon as we met her that she was the right person for the job. She is warm, caring, intelligent, creative and very experienced. She has a wealth of ideas and the children have been happy and stimulated in her care.
They have had trips to parks, playgroups, story sessions and Grace even arranged a visit to the local fire station for our son who is 3. She has baked bread and cakes, made croissants, made slime and play dough, and she often brought her binoculars so they could go bird-watching.
Grace encourages routines and has clear expectations, and she manages behaviour in a gentle and fair way. The children have immense respect and affection for her. She has a huge amount of knowledge and experience in child development and has supported the children with key milestones, potty training our son within the first week, teaching him to get dressed independently, and teaching our 6 year old daughter to tie her shoelaces, amongst many other things. She takes the initiative and ensures they are always ready for the next stage of their development. She encourages healthy eating, is a great cook and is very clean and tidy.
Our children have had such a happy year with Grace and we will be very sad to see her go. We are delighted to recommend her in the highest possible terms.
