My name is Shabana Mirza and I have been a childminder in Redbridge for the past 7 years.
I am registered with Ofsted and previous to starting childminding I have completed a7-week childminders pre-registration course with Redbridge Childcare Development Team. Ofsted inspect my practice at least every 3 years and write a report about me which I can share with you today.
I work closely with a network coordinator who regularly monitors and supports me with my work as a childminder.
I have experience working with children from my previous job as a foster carer. I have worked with children of different ages ranging from 0-12 and I understand the different needs and emotional care that children of different ages require.
I live with my husband who is a taxi driver and also a registered assistant; and my two children: Aysha who is 23 years old and training to become a childminder and Ali who is 19 years old studying at university..
The whole of my house is registered for childminding. I have a large lounge in which the children enjoy the space that is provided for playing games, free flow play and taking part in a variety of indoor activities. I also have a large rear garden which the children enjoy and love using to explore and play outside on the outdoor equipment, for free flow play and outdoor activities.
I also take the children out to visit the local park, library, farm and toddler groups were the children enjoy themselves and participate in the activities provided.
I carry out regular risk assessments that involve the children and their safety which include of: my home, garden, activities, outings and trips. I practice the fire drill with the children once a month.
Working with children has made me realise that it is essential for children to receive the best care and emotional support in a loving and caring home environment.
The well being and happiness of children is vital for them to grow and develop to their fullest potential. All children need and deserve security, safety and happiness to be able to grow confidently at their own pace in order to explore their own talents and ability.
I work to the statutory framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. It also sets out the legal requirements relating to children’s welfare. I will regularly discuss your child’s progress and development with you, as it is important we work in partnership to ensure that your child’s individual needs are met and that you are happy with my practice.
I achieved a good grade in my last Ofsted inspection which was in March 2015.

I have policies and procedures put in place to ensure that children are cared for in a safe and secure environment.
