A bit about us:
we are a high quality childcare premises, based within Menston Railway Station
We care for preschool / early years children (1 to 5 years) plus school children (5 to 14 years).
Our unique setting is both stimulating and vibrant, with an enormous focus on child lead play and child development
Fantastic, highly experienced, qualified and committed team of child care specialists
Nurturing environment, with a separate snuggly sleep area (for the little ones) and healthy home cooked meals served daily
Our home cooked meals are made with locally sourced fresh ingredients, delivered from local farmers markets. Your children will receive AT LEAST 5 portions of their ‘5 a day’ at The Railway Children!
Our environment allows families to stay together in one childcare setting, due to us caring for both age groups of children (early years and school children)
We have separate areas for our under 2's and school children. Although they are separate we have an open plan environment so they can still see, hear and interact with each other but they have their own area, staff, planning and resources. The school children can spend time with their siblings before and after school.
Daily outings to our newly refurbished outdoor area which is under a giant parachute canopy and includes; a mud kitchen, mini-beast houses, wormery, hedgehog house, balancing beams, areas to mark make and incorporate number and maths.
We enjoy trips out to the local parks, ponds, bridal paths and woodland…Taking utmost advantage of being located in one of the most beautiful parts of the country!
Involved in the community – We regularly visit the village library, The Beeches Care Home and the many events held within the community.
We also work in partnership with Menston Primary; attending nativity / harvest festival and year end plays and sports days as well as open days with our preschool children. We also have links with Menston Pre-School with children who attend both settings so we can share progress reports at the end of each term.
Our planning is child initiated and our observations are carried out using a password protected web based system…you are notified whenever your child’s profile is updated, allowing you to hear about their milestones whist on the move or from the comfort of your home.
We have a number of different organisations come into the setting to provide sessions for the children. We have Pyjama Drama, Scientots, Tatty Bumkin Yoga and our new session is music with the company The Music Box.
