I am a BEd First Class Hons Primary Education Graduate from the University of Hertfordshire. I specialise in Early Years and have many years of experience teaching Reception class. I tutor in maths and phonics.
Holtsmere End Infant & Nursery School (Nursery) 19/06/12 – 23/07/12
I did volunteer work for this school, allowing me to gain experience in teaching Nursery. This allowed me to see the transition from Nursery to Reception and gain a great insight in the children’s development.
Hartsbourne School (Reception) 1/03/12 – 18/5/12
Throughout my eight-week placement at Hartsbourne School I was able to learn a great deal about planning for and teaching Reception, and further developed my knowledge on the teaching of Phonics. I learnt the importance of on-going assessment and keeping Learning Journeys up to date which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. I also was able to deploy my TAs effectively, enabling efficient assessment to take place.
Scoil Cholmcille School (Reception – Year 6) April 2011
I completed a Community Links project in Ireland. This was a fantastic opportunity to observe and help with teaching children from Reception to Year 6 in a remote rural setting. There was great emphasis on using outdoor space to enhance their learning, making it more fun and engaging.
St John’s Infant School (Yr1) 17/01/11 – 25/03/11
During this placement I completed a module on Gifted and Talented children, and had a great opportunity to focus on these children in my class, challenging their learning. I also focused on the importance of differentiation in my planning, ensuring that learning is accessible to all ability groups.
Laurance Haines School (Yr1) 5/11/09 – 26/05/10
This placement provided varied experiences and I felt I made a real impact on the children’s learning and behaviour. The majority of the school was multi-cultural and when visiting Early Years, the majority of the children had English as an additional language. However, I learnt a vast amount about the importance of multi-sensory learning, using visual, auditory and kinaesthetic teaching approaches to broaden all the children’s learning experiences.
Grangewood Special Needs School (Reception) 20/01/10 – 22/01/10
It was great to experience teaching in a special needs school. I enjoyed this setting and it felt very rewarding to help these children, from having autism to wheelchair bound, and I learnt a lot during this time.
Supply Teacher 4myschools 01/09/12 – 22/10/12
I found supply teaching an exciting opportunity to gain experience in working with various age ranges in different schools.
Little Heath Primary School Reception Teacher 22/10/12 - 20/07/18
I loved working as a Reception teacher for six years. I was also music co-ordinator for the school. This involved taking weekly whole school singing assemblies, organising music trips and overseeing teaching and resources for the school.
