I am passionate about all children receiving a fully enriched education which develops their potential and builds their confidence to achieve their dreams.
As a firm advocate for quality education, I joined the education sector after graduating from Manchester University in 2010. The education sector has provided me with a varied career working within the Assessment, Data, Curriculum, SEND and pastoral departments in a range of inner-city London state schools.
I have taught GCSE English and Sociology at A-Level, alongside running current affairs debating clubs for Years 10 & 11. With a clean enhanced DBS, I am currently a Local Authority and LDBS Foundation School Governor at both a primary and secondary school in London.
Outside of tuition, I own and run a messy play mark making pre-school classes in Kensal Green and West Hampstead.
With the recognition that different children have different strengths and weaknesses, different confidences and insecurities, I aim to tailor my methods to suit the individual needs of each student, rather than enforcing a rigid, pre-existing framework.
Through my lessons, I aim to nurture each student's a pride and confidence in their own abilities, regardless of the achievements of their peers. I adopt interactive methods of learning which enables each student to create a new found appreciation of the subject and an enthusiastic approach to learning. I strongly believe in the benefits of 1 to 1 attention as a means of instilling confidence and security for a child's own academic self-confidence. This allows her/him to work purely for themselves rather than in competition with others as is all too often encouraged in the classroom.
Over 10 years experience in tutoring English Language and Literature. I have great motivational skills for young people needing that little bit more of an encouragement and confidence boost in both learning and social skills.
Taught English while studying for my undergraduate and masters degree.

Latifah was prompt, friendly, an excellent communicator, and my kids had a great time with her. We would definitely recommend her after our experience!
Latifah has sat for my 3 year old twice now and we love her. Completely reliable, approachable, warm, knowledgable, and good with kids. I would totally recommend her and look forward to working with her again soon :-)
Our regular babysitter wasn't available so Latifah came over to look after our baby. She is punctual, warm, caring and extremely knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again the next time our babysitter is out of town!
Latifah is brilliant with my son. We cannot wait for her to be back tutoring. She is currently on short break. Latifah Joshua is always asking for you. Anyone who need a tutor to boost confidence in their child. Latifah is brilliant in teaching and boosting confidence in children.
Latifah gave excellent tutoring to my three year old child to help get ready for school entry access to a very selective private school in south east London. School offer came as we expected. Latifah is not only professional but amazing to tutor child. As parent, we want to say many thanks to Latifah.
