Latifah is an ex-secondary school teacher with over 10+ years’ experience teaching English and Sociology in and across London schools. Educated at The Dwight School, London, she went onto study a BA in Social Sciences with an MSc in Research and Statistics at Manchester University, before gaining an MA in Education and Gender studies at UCL.
Prior to taking some time out to have her daughters, Latifah set up her own tuition business as she had gone through the process of independent school exams with a number of her students and now her own daughter(s). Latifah specialises in teaching children aged between 4 and 16. Coordinating Saturday group classes for children aged 3 to 8.
Latifah has been consulting parents on school entry and appropriate preparation for many years and has an extensive knowledge of the school entry system.
Latifah prepares and monitors all the teaching and work at the groups and maintains a close relationship with the parents and children. Feeling very strongly that parents who feel anxious about examinations should not be exploited by unprofessional tuition services, poorly qualified tutors and ridiculous fees for interview practice and advice.
Latifah enjoys privately tutoring some children who might struggle in group settings and specialises in the subject of English.
With the recognition that different children have different strengths and challenges and different levels of confidence, the aim is to tailor my methods to suit the individual needs of each student, rather than enforcing a rigid, pre-existing framework.
Through my lessons, I aim to nurture each student's pride and confidence in their own abilities, regardless of the achievements of their peers. I adopt interactive methods of learning which enables each student to create a new found appreciation of the subject and an enthusiastic approach to learning. I strongly believe in the benefits of both small groups and/or 1-2-1 tuition as a means of instilling confidence and security for a child's own academic self-confidence. This allows her/him to develop independent and analytical thinking particularly when it comes to critical thinking and debating which are cornerstones of academia at every stage of a child's education.
With over 10+ years experience in tutoring English Language and Literature. I have great motivational skills for young people needing that little bit more of an encouragement and confidence boost in both learning and social skills.
Currently supporting students ahead of their 4+, 7+ & 8+ entrance exams.

Latifah gave excellent tutoring to my three year old child to help get ready for school entry access to a very selective private school in south east London. School offer came as we expected.
