About Me

My name is Claire Louise Slater, I live in Ashton, Preston and my setting is called Claire Bears Daycare. I live with my Husband Thomas, our Son Alfie, our Daughter Evie-Mae a Patterjack dog (Sasha) and 2 Guinea Pigs (Bella and Ella). Sasha is a very friendly dog and has spent most of her life around other children and is very calm and good-natured around our children. I moved to Preston from Warton where Thomas and I bought our first home together and we have been here for the last 5 and half years.

My house and garden are a no smoking environment as neither my husband nor I smoke and I do not allow any visitors to smoke within the house or garden.

My Experience

My previous experience has been in teaching post 16 students and whilst I was on Maternity Leave after having my Son I decided that I would like a new venture in life and I decided to use my transferrable skills to start a career as a Childminder. I have completed my Pre-registration Childminding Workshops, Food Hygiene, Food Allergens, Safeguarding Level 2, Health and Safety when working in Childcare and Paediatric First Aid.

Throughout my training to become a Childminder I have developed a very good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage to teach and help children in my care to develop and grow into happy confident children in a safe and caring environment.

I have completed my City and Guilds level 1 in Caring for Children and I have started my City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce at the beginning of 2016

Great suite of policies and procedures. Lovely home but moving soon. Knows her stuff. Recommend in most aspects but cancels childminding services the day before childcare is required. Been informed that childcare before school is stopping in 2 months time. Overall, worth while considering for after school.

Response by Claire S on 09/04/2018:

Many thanks for your review and for taking the time to visit my setting. In my setting I always want what is best for the Children in my care. I feel that your Child, was not comfortable with this change. I usually ask for parents to bring their Child beforehand and to see if the Child settles in my care, this is outlined within the Policies and Procedures, as the visit only happened yesterday wanting Childcare to commence today, the child was not provided with the opportunity to have a settling in period beforehand. Although I did state, I am ceasing before school Childcare, this has not yet been confirmed.
