Hello and welcome,
My name is Lauren and I am the owner of Caterpillar Childcare.
Firstly, thank you for looking at my profile, you are no doubt spending lots of time at the moment searching for a suitable childcare provider.
Three years ago I was sitting at my laptop doing exactly the same thing as you, trying to find someone to care for my daughter for when I returned to work. I remember it was one of the most difficult decisions I had to make as a parent. I didn't want to return to work, but like most working families it wasn't an option to not go to work. So, when looking for a childcare provider I knew I only wanted the best and I am sure that is what you are looking for right now. I was really fortunate and found an amazing child minder, who has really been my inspiration.
No doubt you have lots of questions at the moment, I hope I can answer a few of these now for you.
I live with my husband and my daughter. We live in a five bedroom house with a secluded and secure garden. We do have pets, a cat called Gizmo and two dogs, a pug called Doris and a Chihuahua called Nellie (please be assured, the dogs will not come into contact with the children when in my care). My partner and I are both non smokers and we are both DBS and social services checked.
I like to think my home is warm and welcoming and like a home from home experience for children in my care. My house is clean and tidy, I am going to be totally honest, I do like a clean home, my floors are vacumed and steam mopped daily, that said children are actively encouraged to be children, there will be paint, glue, messy play with jelly, cornflakes and spaghetti, children will play with sand and water and they will get their hands a little dirty when learning about the garden.
I provide nutritious, home cooked food, I do not provide junk food. Children will be provided with three meals and snacks throughout the day. Children will not be fed chocolate, sweets, cakes, biscuits, ready meals or fizzy drinks. A menu will be provided and available to view online via the secure website. I do believe children should eat at a table, not on their laps, eating together at a table is a great opportunity for everyone to come together, sit down and reflect on the days events.
If children require daytime naps, I have cots and spare beds, all with clean, fresh linen, a baby monitor will also be used.
I do not believe children should be indoors all day. Children will have supervised access in the garden, there is a swing, slide, wooden play house and a children's growing garden. In the warmer weather children will be able to play in paddling pools and on our bouncy castle, along with lots of other outdoor toys.
I have recently converted my garage into a specialist Early Years playroom. There is a kitchen, a shop, dressing up area, chill out den, small world play and craft zone.
All days and activities will be planned, to ensure children are given plenty of variety. Some days we will go out to local play groups, other days we may enjoy a walk in the woods splashing in muddy puddles, or a trip to the seaside to feel the sand between our toes. Most importantly children will have fun! You will always know what we are doing by accessing the diary on the secure website.

My daughter has been childminded by Lauren since early in 2018, when she was 9 months old.
My husband and I have been really happy with the care that Lauren provides, as she really goes above and beyond any care that we ever expected. Lauren cares for our daughter like she is her own child, really nurturing, supporting and developing her. Sophie is happy and stimulated when in Lauren's care. Lauren does lots of activities with her, and it is great to see photo updates of our daughter's day, so we can then chat to our daughter about what she has done.
Lauren gives a really good handover at collection time, telling us about any issues and also how our daughter slept/eaten and what she has enjoyed that day. We also use the Babydays app to see what sleep/food Sophie has had.
Our daughter goes over really happily to Lauren and is clearly comfortable with Lauren, and the environment.
Sophie eats healthy food at Lauren's, and even has things that she won't eat at home, but it gives me ideas of other foods I can try with her.
The environment is extremely clean, hygienic and well stocked with a range of suitable toys/activities.
Lauren greets us with a friendly smile, and asks how Sophie's elder siblings are too.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Lauren's childminding services to other parents, as she is caring, professional and my daughter has thrived whilst with her.
