I am an OFSTED rated outstanding childminder who is also an experienced and fully qualified teacher specialising in early years. I have a degree in early childhood development, and have also completed a level 3 home based childcare course, as well as being paediatric first aid trained. I am also a mother, so have practical experience of parenting a child as well as caring for and educating other people’s children. As a childminder I want to combine all of the best elements of attending a nursery setting, with the benefits of more personalised care within a family environment that can become a home from home for your child.
As previously stated, I am an experienced teacher and early years specialist. I believe in the value of play, and am skilled at providing play based activities and resources that help children to learn and develop in all areas. I know where children should be when they start nursery or school, and my background in teaching and understanding of how children learn and develop means that I am able to provide them with fun experiences to ensure that they are where they need to be, or above, by the time they reach school age, and without ever having realised they were doing anything but playing. For older children who require after school care, I am able to provide a fun environment to unwind in. Most importantly, I pride myself on being in tune with a child's needs, and am there to nurture and support them however they need me to.
I have a well-stocked playroom with toys for all ages, lots of baby equipment, and a large garden with bikes, large play equipment and various sports equipment, including a large football goal. I have a mud kitchen and digging area, minibeast area and sand and water trays to facilitate lots of outdoor learning, and am also developing a growing area. I provide healthy and varied snacks, and believe children should be hands on in growing and cooking the foods that they eat, so we will grow our own fruit and vegetables and do lots of cooking activities.
I have a degree in Educational Studies with Early Childhood Development, I am a qualified primary school teacher and completed a level 3 Home Based Childcare Award prior to becoming a childminder. I am paediatric first aid trained and have completed lots of training throughout my teaching career on a range of topics from behaviour management to special needs.
Having juggled being a mum and working full time myself, I aim to be flexible and understanding of the needs of working parents. My standard operating hours are 7.30am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday. However, I may be able to accommodate extended hours depending on the enquiry.
I do school drop offs and pick ups from Kingshill Infant school and St Mary's junior school.

Donna provided childcare for my son for approx 18m before she relocated and was truly terrific during this time. My son was very happy in her home whilst in her care.
Donna was always very reliable, flexible and accommodated me wherever possible to fit around my work pattern. She has a lovely manner and speaks to the children nicely, is always calm and kind. Her home is clean and safe and whenever I visited, all the children had been engaged in different activities.
My son loved the various daily outdoor activities available, such as going to different parks, the beach, attending playgroups, going to the shops (the pet shop was a firm favourite) and loved spending time in the garden using the home made facilities available such as mud kitchen and water gizmo.
Not only did Donna provide a safe environment for my son, she also helped him learn, they would spend time writing his name, a little mathematics was covered and she would provide feedback of his progress via a journal.
If there were any queries or concerns, Donna was open and happy to discuss at pick up or drop off. I would occasionally contact Donna during or out of hrs if I had forgotten to mention this or that and would always get a reply. I was happy with comms, v important to be able to communicate.
The feedback from my son was that he felt happy with Donna, was always kept busy!
It’s such an hard decision to decide on who will be looking after your child once your maternity leave comes to end. By choosing Donna your child will be well looked after and able to thrive in a great environment. Donna is well qualified to work with children, she has experience as a teacher as well as as being a qualified childminder. My son joins Donna when he was 14 months old in February 2017 and stays with her until July 2019 and was very happy whilst in her care. As a working parents I did appreciate the regular updates on my sons progress.
Both of my boys went to DViney for more than 10 months, until she moved to Herfordshire. She is the best at her work. My kids loved going to hers. I am very happy with my preschooler’s development when he was with her. She is very hard working and extremely clear about the approach to child’s development. She has well-planned activities laid out for children of every age in her setting. She understands needs of all children well. My elder one also enjoyed going there before and after school. She has always been very flexible in accommodating our requirements. I highly recommend her setting to all the parents in need of childcare.
After having issues with a childminder that we'd used for years I'm so pleased that we found D. I wish we'd found her sooner!
Our daughter settled quickly and our minds were at ease straightaway. She loved it and moaned when I said I'd collect her from school rather than D!
She's well organised, has a great memory and has a kind heart. She's also very experienced and knowledgeable with allergies which is very helpful.
D was also great when I was going through a rough patch personally. She was supportive of me and kept an eye on my daughter in case it affected her. I'm so grateful for that and it helped me so much knowing D was there for my daughter.
I fully recommend D as a childminder. Her family are lovely, she's fantastic and it was a shame that she moved away.
My Daughter NA goes to DViney every morning. NA loves the time she spent at DViney's house. She is caring and flexible with timing if she has space available.
