About Me
Hi, My name is Jessica Westgate, I am 25 years old. I have completed a primary education degree at the University of Derby. I have been a Primary School Teacher for 3 years. I love working with children and helping them grow emotionally, physically and educationally. I would like to continue being an excellent role model to other children and inspire them to be what they'd like to be each and every day.
Also, I am a very keen sportswoman, over the last 11 years, I have trained and competed in a number of Regional and National Biathlons and Triathlons (Running, Swimming and Pistol Shooting). I still do regular fitness daily and love exploring the outdoors.
I am willing to be flexible to work around the hours that benefit you and your child/children.

My Experience
- I have completed voluntary work at a number of local Primary Schools in Lichfield, Cannock, Tamworth, Burton-upon- Trent, Sutton Coldfield and Mere Green.
- Whilst in Sixth Form I completed work experience at another local Primary School alongside my studies.
- I have volunteered at a local guides group called Brownies (between 2012 - 2016 during my time at secondary school and whilst completing my Duke Of Edinburgh award), I originally began it for my Duke Of Edinburgh (completed Bronze - 2013 and Silver - 2014), but loved it so much I continued to go until I started university.
- During University (started 2016 - 2019) I volunteered in two local primary schools during the Summer break to gain experience in a different school and year group.
- In my first two years of studying at the University of Derby, I worked at a local leisure centre as a lifeguard every weekend. This enabled me to engage with all types of customers and most importantly work as a team (December 2016 until December 2018). I held my lifeguarding qualification and first aid training up until September 2019.
- From September 2019 until September 2022 I had been a Year 1 teacher.
- From October 2022 until present, I have been working with supply agencies in different primary schools.
- From December 2022 until June 2023 I have been an SEN TA working with children that are Autistic and cannot cope with mainstream or access the National Curriculum.
- From June 2023 until July 2023 I had been working at an SEN school in Tamworth. I was helping in any class that needed cover and the needs of the children in each class were different. They had Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Non-verbal, etc. I did a lot of sign language there to communicate with the children. As well as PECs being used throughout learning or any sign that is around the classroom.
My Qualifications
- Bronze in 2013 and Silver in 2014 Duke Of Edinburgh
- The Challenge (NCS - National Citizen Service) in Summer 2014
- Grade 4 vocal exam in 2014 (Distinction) and Grade 6 vocal exam in 2016 (Merit)
- I had RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard (2016 - 2019)
- Information Technology (IT) Competent with using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer/ Google Chrome.
- Driving Licence (I hold a full clean UK licence).

Jess looked after our 2 children during the school holidays. She was always punctual, responsible and caring and our children loved their time with her. I would highly recommend Jess.
