I enjoy teaching and tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. I am fully committed to the success of all of my students through a careful blend of challenge and support which give the students the confidence to do well in Maths and ESOL.
I like using Freeman’s “sports model” approach to identify able students and then offer opportunities in order their experience becomes exclusive. This approach is about how high a person can jump when the bar is progressively increased at heights.

• A student won 4th position in inner UKMT competition (Hampton Boys’ School)
• A student passed his Maths GCSE with A grade while in y10
• A student who had a gap year at University ( he had failed at A-level Maths), passed the exam with 93%.
• Most of my y6 ss passed their SATs in Maths and English with level 6.
My approach is caring , my curriculum is focused on interactive, problem based learning where activities are modeled from potential real world applications. As well as explaining how given concept or technique may be applied to a real world situation, I also emphasise when given technique could, and should be used. In applications ( and often on quiz and exam questions), the students are explicitly told which mathematical device will be most helpful, so in demonstrating why a particular technique is effective, I try to give an overview of other situations in which it may be applied so that the students will recognise them they see them. I also emphasise that many questions may be approached using multiple methods, all of which lead to the same result if done correctly, and while some may be more elegant than others, the choice of which method to use is a matter of personal preference. It is important to me to know that the students are learning the material, and I use a variety of methods to assess how well they understand what is going on. While explaining a concept or demonstrating a sample problem during a lesson, I often seek input from the students on how they think the concept works or how the solution should proceed, and encourage them to ask questions if they do not understand a particular idea.
Help primary school children to achieve successfully National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 English aims in developing their ability to communicate in speech and writing and to listen with understanding. Children are taught to read aloud, listen carefully and respond to what they have heard, speak aloud with clarity and confidence and join in with group discussions. Children are encouraged to read with fluency, accuracy and understanding, sample a wide variety of children’s literature- stories, poetry, plays and picture books, understand and respond to what they have read- say what might happen next, talk about characters and events, retell stories, learn the alphabet and identify initial and final sounds in words, look at word formation- plurals, verb endings, syllables, root words, prefixes. Children learn to write with confidence, fluency and accuracy, organize and present work in different ways, punctuate their work, using capital letters, full stops, question marks and commas, recognize and use simple spelling patterns, develop a legible writing style.
