My name is Carol, I'm from Brazil and have been living in London since 2006.
I work with children since 2001 and my experience has seen me within many positions and settings. In Brazil, I worked as a Primary school/ Pre-school teacher and in London, as Nursery Nurse and many Nanny roles from part time to full time employment. My experience of working within these roles has seen me being the carer of children from age’s birth to 7 years. I also have strong experience in caring for multilingual children and children with severe food allergies
Back in Brazil, I attended to Law school and also did two years of a Pedagogy degree which is the equivalent to Early years foundation degree in UK.
In 2010 I started a NVQ Level 3 course in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Once I completed this course, in June 2011, I started a Psychology Degree at Birkbeck College that has been concluded in June 2015. In August 2020 I’m finishing a MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology.
I spent 3 months working at the University’s BabyLab with children from aged 1 month – 3 years understanding how they learn, develop, and think. I was specifically involved in project designed to identify earliest signs of Autism or ADHD in infants. After this internship, I have also been involved in variety of projects investigating children’s cognitive and neuro development. I also worked as volunteer at Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development of Birkbeck college where I was involved in research on memory and attention. My master’s thesis is investigating how parent’s language communication skills affects long term language development in children with down syndrome.
I love working with children and, as a Nanny I enjoy cooking healthy meals, playing with them, listening to their stories, reading books and to watch their achievements. There is nothing more rewarding than supporting and observing the development of a child.
A typical week for me working as a Nanny would be – music classes, toddler groups, play dates, swimming, play parks, feeding the ducks, day trips with visits to the Zoo, Aquarium, Museums, painting and cooking.
I work for a lovey family in Twickenham Mon-Wed, and now looking for an extra day of work on THURSDAY. Ideally I would like to start in the new year but happy to accommodate to an earlier start for the right family.
I have an up to date CRB check, first aid certificate, Public Liability Insurance. While working at Nurseries I attended to Montessori, Makaton (sign language), Child protection and Food and safety courses.
I have 19 years of experience in childcare (teaching, nursery and nanny), childcare qualifications.
Bsc Psychology, Master in neuroscience, NVQ3, Child protection, Food safety and others.
I have a permanent job Mon-Wed looking, for a one day/week job on THURSDAY.
