About Me
Hi there,
Thanks for viewing my profile!
My name is Shannon and I'm a qualified teacher.
I have 5 years experience teaching Year 2 and experience teaching and managing Early Years.
I have experience working as a SENDCo and have tutored both mainstream and children with SEN.
I have worked as a mental health practitioner and assistant psychologist. I now work within the EHCP team at the council writing and coordinating EHCPs.
I love working 1:1 with children as well as groups or classes. I make my lessons as creative as possible and love ensuring children are engaged and excited. No one wants to waste an hour being bored!
Rates:
I charge £20ph depending on distance to travel for tutoring.
My Experience
I have plenty of knowledge of the KS1 SATs and the end of year expectations. My class percentages have been in line or above national averages. I have experience of maths mastery, power of reading and phonics interventions. I have also worked with NCETM to develop resources for schools to access.
I have successfully tutored a young boy in year 1 through his phonics test raising a score of 17 up to 34. We continued to work into year 2 developing his handwriting, sentence structure and fluency with numbers.
I have supported a child in Year 3 with dyslexia, developing simple rhymes and patterns to work on spellings.
I tutored another Year 1 boy with phonics, maths, writing and reading. He passed his phonics test, and was able to progress from writing letters backwards and incorrectly to cursive within the 7 months.
I tutored a Year 1 girl raising her phonics score from 12 to 32 within 4 months completing 2 tutoring sessions a week. This was the main focus along with developing her blending and segmenting skills when reading and writing.
I have tutored children from year 1 up to children in year 3 and have kept in contact with families I have tutored and cared for in the past.
I am able to support children of all ages in Primary, however my main experience is KS1.
I can support children in year 1 with their phonics tests and those in year 2 who need to retake the screening.
I am able to build confidence of children who need reassurance, learning whilst having fun!
I can also extend children's learning helping them to master the curriculum for those that need something extra to challenge and excite them!
