About Me
I recently received my masters degree in social work and I am devoted to ensuring the wellbeing of children, adolescents and vulnerable people. My practice is underpinned by legislation such as Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Children ( Leaving Care) Act 2000, and the Care Act 2014. Supporting underprivileged communities in the UK is another area of interest for me. In addition to relationship-based practice, I also have experience in trauma-informed practice, and have worked alongside agencies such as CAMHS in order to provide support to young people I have worked with. My previous roles have also provided me with experience in direct work and the importance of choosing age-appropriate activities to engage in with the children and young people, in order to build a great working relationship with them. My experience as a Sunday school teacher also helps in my approach when working with young people. I am able to establish boundaries, uphold my duty of care to the young people, and ensure their safety and well-being. I am also able to act proactively according to the best interests of the young person and advocate for them to ensure that they feel their voice is being heard. My experiences in working as part of the 'corporate parenting team in Waltham Forest and part of the LAC (Looked After Children) team in Tower hamlets, also provided me with knowledge on how to appropriately conduct statutory tasks such as home visits, care plans, referrals, single assessments,pathway plans, etcetera. Furthermore, I constantly strive to approach interactions with service users from a person-centered perspective. My desire to perform at a high level never ceases. Although I am always eager to learn new things and go to training sessions if necessary to broaden my knowledge, experience, and abilities, I am constantly looking for new possibilities to utilise my knowledge, experience, and skills in social work sector settings. I am also always receptive to professional feedback in order to improve my work and practice.
My Experience
In the Summer of 2013 I worked in a nursery called ‘Enchanted Castle Nursery ’in Chingford, London
Role: Play leader
This role involved interacting with and playing with the children, feeding them, singing with them, reading to them and tidying up the facilities. Though this was volunteer work I enjoyed it because I loved interacting with the children. I also enjoyed it because of my experience studying Child Development in school and working as a Sunday school teacher at church. This experience taught me to have more patience and to manage my time effectively.
From April 2016 to April 2017, I worked in a nursery called Busy bee’s day nursery- London docklands
Role: Child carer
Duties:
This role required me to serve children breakfast, lunch and snacks, change nappies, heat babies’ bottles, tidy up the rooms, prepare beds for nap time, give parents detailed feedback at the end of the day and interact with the children. I enjoyed this job because it enabled me to be more patient, disciplined, and have better time keeping.
I have also had several nanny and babysitting roles since (with children aged between 6 months- 7 years old)
