Hi, my name is Wendy, I am based in the village of Hurstpierpoint, near Hassocks. I am happily married, we have 3 grown up daughters who live out of the village.
I offer a caring, stimulating and relaxing home from home environment. Children have access to all rooms on the ground floor of my home, the sunroon opens into a secure garden, offering fun and learning, inside and out, all year round. We visit toddler groups, farms, soft play venues, adventure playgrounds, parks, the woods, the beach, libraries and children's centres, often with other minders and their children. I encourage learning through fun based learning activities, such as, imaginative & messy play, puzzles, games and playdough, art & crafts, singing, music & dancing, physical games, exploring activities, growing vegetables and cooking activities. We also have time and space for relaxing and unwinding activities too. We spend a lot of time exploring out and about in the fresh air with mother nature, favourite activities include dog walks, gruffollo hunting, jumping in puddles and creating patterns in the mud with sticks.
I use daily learning journals which keep parents informed and involved in both the care their child has received in my care, as well as their child's learning and progress. I use the Early Years Foundation stage framework as a guidance, offering children activities that stimulate their interests and supports them to progress in all areas of their development. I also operate a private social media page just for parents, where I share photographs and details of activities we are doing or where we are visiting, sharing with parents their child's day to day activities and achievements. I provide healthy breakfasts and snacks and have experience of caring for children with severe food allergies or intolerances. Due to changes in food legislation I no longer provide home cooked meals but I am happy to cook foods provided by parents. I provide vegetables, fruit and salad to accompany these meals. I try to develop children's understanding of where their food comes from and we do many cooking activities and growing veg activities in the garden to support this. we all come together for meal times, which helps supports children's social skills and it encourages children to try new foods as well.
I have worked in childcare for 28 years, supporting children from newborn to young adults, from varying backgrounds, with varying learning or health needs. I have also worked in customer service and caring for the elderly.
I first became a childminder when my own children were babies, I then started to help out at their pre-schools, schools and Brownies. after qualifying I took up a position of supervisor at my local preschool and then went on to open up and manage two preschools of my own. I returned to childminding 10 years ago.
I am a member of PACEY (professional association for childcare and early years). I am Ofsted registered. I have been PAT mark inspected, which clarifies my suitability to offer care and facilities for all children including those with additional needs or disabilities. I have training and experience in supporting children with varying health conditions and disabilities.
I have various qualifications, including Level 4 Cetificate and a Diploma both in Childcare & Education, level 3 SEN certificate, First Aid, Child Protection, Food Hygienne, Health & Safety, Risk Assessment & Fire Risk Assessment. I continually update my knowledge and skills by attending various childcare training days including thosing related to The EYFS.

Wendy has been looking after our daughter Cassie since she was one and she’s just about to start school in September. Cassie will be so sad to leave Wendy’s care during term time but we couldn’t think of anyone better to continue with her care during the holidays.
Wendy is a fantastic childminder and has greatly influenced Cassie so positively throughout her life.
Cassie genuinely loves her and she feels like part of the family.
She is kind, thoughtful and dedicated and treats the children she minds as though they are her own.
I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
Wendy has looked after our son Noah from the age of 1 and we are so happy to have found such a lovely and caring lady ! Wendy has been very supportive with Noah and gives us advice and guidance with his development.
Noah enjoys his time at Wendys and is such a happy boy when we pick him up. We love to hear about all the different things they have done such as going to toddler groups , trips out to the farm and woods and the creative things they have made indoors.
Wendy we are so glad to have found you and we recommend you to anyone who needs childcare !

Thank you Amy, love Noah, it has been a pleasure looking after him and watching him learn and grow in confidence, look forward to more fun days together too xx
Wendy has been looking after my daughter, Maisie, since she was nine months old and she is now seven. From the moment we started using Wendy we have never looked back or worried about Maisie’s wellbeing and it is such a piece of mind to know Maisie is happy and being taken good care of. Maisie still loves going to Wendy’s and see’s it as a treat during the school holidays.
Wendy always ensures that the kids are active and are always off doing exciting things, trips to the beach, wellie walks in the woods, baking, dressing up, gardening, the list goes on. Wendy has also supported us through Maisie’s development and provided us with invaluable support.
I am now pregnant with my second child and we have already signed them up with Wendy.
We can’t thank Wendy enough for everything she has done for Maisie. X

Wendy is a loving, caring, supportive and educated in her buisness minder! I would and have, recommended her to every family. If you want home from home care, Wendy is the perfect person. Know that your child is in very good hands. She will keep you informed of the days adventures and the fun times your child has had. Definately the best ever care provider and sad she moved away, however still could not break the bond that my daughter has with her so still she travels to spend a day a week with the best minder ever. The bond is strong and will be sad when my daughter starts school.

Thank you for letting me care for your children, we certainly have many precious memories to treasure always, and there is still plenty of time to make more . Both have made me smile lots over the years and watching them both learn, over obstacles and achieve has been, a privilege. I'm lucky to have little miss visit me each week, smiling and laughing. Thanks to you both for all the support you have given me over the years too.
Wendy has been looking after Aria for over a year now and it was the best decision we made. She is so caring and treats Aria like she is her own child. I love that she takes her out on adventures during the day like nature walks, washbrooks farm, garden centre, toddler group, soft play. We could not be happier and it will be sad when Aria is off to School in September but we will definitely be using Wendy for school holidays.. I would definitely recommend Wendy to anyone. She is definitely one of a kind and you can tell how much she enjoys looking after and helping develop children to get them ready for School . Thanks for everything..
