Hello, I am a confident and love sharing smiles. I have an upbeat happy personality. I live with my Son, 15 and a step Son 18, 3 dogs and my husband Glenn who runs his own teaching business. I love nature, physics, history and trying new things. I have a terrible memory for films I have seen, so i often end up re-watching films many times which is both a blessing and a curse!
I believe in expecting the best from everyone, respecting children as the mini adults they are, and allowing children to make mistakes safely helping to guide them on their journey- every person is unique.
I currently work Monday and Friday for a family in Wynyard, I am also currently studying a Masters in Trauma Informed Practice, which requires my attendance Tuesday's 5pm onwards. So I am available for Tuesdays day time, Wednesday and Thursday.
I am firm but kind and consistent, using up to date methods for dealing with challenging behaviour, while also developing self esteem, good manners and etiquette in children.
I have a degree in Psychology and Education, and an NVQ 3 in Childcare and Development, both of which I completed as a mature student following the birth of my Son. Previous to this I was in business banking!
I have many years of experience caring for and teaching children from newborn up to 16, leading both nursery rooms and foundation stage. I have supported varying special and complex needs at James Cook hospital and throughout all primary years. I have delivered physio packages to primary age children. I also have working knowledge of current curriculums and best teaching practices. I can use makaton to support communication in all children- reducing frustration tantrums!
My Son was registered as gifted and talented and is very driven and continuing to enjoy a myriad of experiences by his own request. Using researched methods I have succeeded in greatly improving the academic levels of those I work with and also growing in them a thirst for knowledge, self esteem and confidence in their own abilities. I am certified in teaching mindfulness to children.
