About Me

I am Coley I am 33 years of age. I have worked in childcare for 11 years, 8 of these being a child minder. I took a year away from childminding to work with adults with learning difficulties, which was an amazing experience and has taught me a lot.
I have children of my own aged 4,12,and 14.
I love my job and enjoy watching the children I care for grow.
I am EYFS qualified and intend to take every possible course to enable me to give each child the opportunity they deserve to develop and grow. I start a Ba honours Degree in childhood and youth studies in October 2020.

I can offer 15 and 30 hours government funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

My setting loves the outdoors and we like to follow the ethos of outdoor learning. We offer forest school outdoor learning supporting children to learn through a child led approach. Encouraging children to learn skills that will benefit them as they grow and develop from children into adults. Resilience confidence, high self-esteem and an appreciation for what the great outdoors can offer.
We build dens, make fires, climb, balance, run free, learn about trees, bugs, fungus, and all kinds of things we find In the environment. We get very messy!!
Children learn to make reasonable boundaries and learn they have autonomy and can have an input in their learning.

My main goal is to have fun whilst learning which I have found to be the best way to teach children the things they need to know before they reach reception.

My Experience

I have gained quite alot of experience working with children since secondary school. I did alot of work experience at my aunties during school holidays as she is also a childminder, I helped with the day to day running of her household to include feeding babies and younger children, nappy changing, household chores and generally playing and helping the children where necessary.
I have also worked at Little Lambs daycare and Burton college nursery i did much the same as above.
I have three children of my own so gained alot of valuable experience with them :)
I started a Dance class for children aged between 4 and 13 when i was 16 years old, This class was held once a week in our local church hall. I organised dance concerts and charity events with the children and found that dance bought out alot in the children who attended. This class ended after a fantastic two years due to me having my own children.

I have also worked in a residential home for adults with learning difficulties and i think this will help me in my child care setting. As it has allowed me to view things from a different angle and i feel my experiences there will help better myself as a childcare provider.

I have gained my SEN certificates so i am the SENco in my setting.

Coley is brilliant, my oldest son went to her when he was younger after having a very difficult time settling in with larger nursery groups, being with Coley for 3 years he absolutely loved it & her. She managed to look after every child in her hair and give 1-1 time with each child to gain their learning, my son is now 7 and still speaks about his time with Coley, can’t thanks her enough. Good luck with Opening up again Coley :)!
