About Me

Ofsted Outstanding Provider Logo

Hello, my name is Stacey and I have been an Ofsted registered Childminder in the Upminster area for the past 20 years, my eldest daughter Gemma started working with me full time as my assistant in February 2014 and together we provide care for an average of 6 children per day. We operate 7:30am-6pm Mon-Fri. We live in Upminster and our setting comprises of a spacious dedicated playroom full of resources, a kitchen where we enjoy meal times & craft activities and a large child-friendly garden.

We have been awarded "Outstanding" in all areas in our most recent two Ofsted inspections (April 2015 and November 2019) - our inspection reports are available to read on Ofsted’s website (URN:118881). Ofsted are the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. Inspections are usually carried out every 3 years.
We also hold a Quality-Mark Certificate whereby the local authority’s early years department come and assess our practice every 3 years, we were last assessed January 2017.
We offer parents “The Early Education Entitlement” for 2, 3 & 4 year olds, meaning they can access 15 hours (or 30 hours, if eligible) of funded childcare per week.

We welcome all children into our home whatever their individual needs and our aim is to provide each child with a warm, caring, stimulating environment where they feel happy and safe as this is when children are able to reach their full potential and achieve the best outcomes.

We aim to take the children on an outing each day, places we frequently visit are Thames Chase Nature Reserve, Belhus Woods, Upminster Park, Clockhouse Gardens, South Weald Country Park (Stickman Trail), Thorndon Woods (Gruffalo Trail), Thurrock Garden Centre. A typical day consists of school runs/pre-school runs, morning activities (which involves visiting parks/libraries/toddler groups etc), lunch back at home or at the park (weather permitting), sleeps for the babies/ quiet time for the older children and an afternoon filled with various activities involving the garden and playroom. We provide parents with a set of daily plans so they know what to expect each day.

We work in close partnership with parents and share observations, planning, development progress, newsletters and information about their child's day with them. We work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and cover the 7 areas of learning through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activities.

Learning Journals are a lovely way of documenting each child’s progress, these are produced online and parents are provided with their own login details so they can access their child’s observations and photographs whenever they wish, we update the Learning Journals weekly. This enables a 2-way flow of information where parents can upload photographs from home too and allows us to work collaboratively to meet children’s individuals needs and support them in obtaining their “next steps” in learning. Each day we send photo messages to keep parents updated and complete digital daily diaries in the form of a text message listing their child’s routine and activities.

Our curriculum consists of fortnightly themes, which cover all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Parents are notified about these themes each ½ term in our Newsletter as this enables parents to share learning at home too.

We hold public liability insurance and both of our vehicles are insured for business use. We regularly review our daily risk assessments and have a system in place whereby daily checks are carried out to ensure the environment is safe and child-friendly at all times.

We are a “Healthy Early Years London” (HEYL) provider and therefore encourage healthy eating in our setting and work with parents to meet any dietary requirements their child may have. We offer breakfast and dinner (an additional fee may apply) and ask for parents to provide a healthy packed lunch for their child and healthy snacks throughout the day.. We provide parents with Menus, which contain allergen information and also have our setting inspected by environmental health in the interest of food safety.

We are both members of PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
We have attended many courses over the years and like to refresh them every 3 years so we are up-to-date with our knowledge, we also take part in webinars on a matter of topics in the interest of continuous improvement and attend termly Childminding briefing meetings and annual early years conferences with the local authority. Please see below for a list of our qualifications.

We offer “Settling in Sessions” in the few weeks running up to children’s start dates, where they have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with us, our setting & the other children who attend to ensure a smooth transition.

We hold some lovely references which we are more than happy to share with prospective parents.
