About Me
I am a married 35 year old mother to two daughters who are 10 and 4 years old. I was born in Yorkshire and my husband and I thoroughly enjoy taking our children out on adventures into the dales at the weekend. My eldest daughter often takes her compass and pocket microscope like a true explorer!
I have worked in retail and recruitment for most of my adult life but felt i needed a change and decided to follow my childhood dream of becoming a teacher. I left full time employment two years ago and became a full time student studying a degree in Young Children's Learning and Development through the Open University at Craven College. Only 3 months into my first year of studies I fell pregnant with our recent arrival! I continued with my first year at Level 4 full time and then decided to return part time for Level 5. My youngest daughter was born in September and I shortly returned to studies so things were quite tough at first but I manged to quickly get into a routine to allow for both studying and family time. I Have now completed my Foundation Degree studies, from which I graduated with a distinction in September 2021.
As much as the starting goal was to go through higher education to eventually become a trained teacher, my end goal is now very open depending on the experiences I enjoy along the way.
I love children and enjoy watching them learn and develop. Being both a mother and a child development student, I have encountered various theories and methods about how children learn through play and their environment. I thrive from creating activities and experiences to engage, interact with and further develop children. I have created a number of these for both my own children and those I have worked with in school. From having my own children I am able to adapt a well-balanced attitude to child care which encompasses laughter, fun, inquisitiveness and discipline. I think it's important for children to develop a moral compass through understanding of their own emotions and actions, as well as of those around them. I'm not phased by much when it comes to children, I think I've been there and got the T-shirt now with most things. I'm comfortable caring for children who are teething, potty training, weening, fussy eaters and not sleeping.
I like to cook healthy meals and do lots of baking. I find these are daily tasks that can be turned into fun activities with little helpers.
My Experience
I have recently completed my studies Level 5 studies of Young Children's Learning and Development, achieving a Distinction. I have a full DBS check through North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) and have worked within a public primary school for 2 years and a nanny since early 2019. I have completed NYCC employee online safeguarding training and would be able to provide references for my experience upon request.
Due to my experience I am very familiar with the Statutory Framework for The Early Years Foundation Stage and the prime and specific areas. I have also worked with children in school under The National Curriculum but do not have as much theoretical knowledge, but feel my practical involvement outweighs this.
In terms of house keeping, I am clean and tidy, always making sure things are put back in their home once play time is over. I am comfortable and well acquainted with bathing, dressing and nappy changes.
My Qualifications
I am qualified to Level 5 within Young Children's Learning and Development and also familiar with and well practised within safeguarding, The Statutory Framework for The EYFS and The National Curriculum.
I am a qualified level 3 paediatric first aider.
My Availability
I have outlined my availability in the table below. I am also available to care for your children at events such as weddings, christenings and festivals etc.
I welcome the opportunity for interviews/general meet and greet before taking bookings should you feel more comfortable in doing so.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £12.00 per hour
Babysitting service: Mon - Sun (7pm / child’s bedtime – 11pm) - £12 per hour.
Babysitting service: Mon - Sun (11pm - 8am) - £18 per hour.
**Nanny service: Weekdays (8am – 7pm / child’s bedtime / end of nanny & housekeeping duties) - £15 per hour.
**Nanny service: Weekend days / bank holidays (9am – 7pm / child’s bedtime / end of nanny & housekeeping duties) - £18 per hour.
Fuel charge 45p per mile for all journeys. Fuel charges apply to locations outside of a five-mile radius from nanny’s home address.
** Includes all aspects of light housekeeping, cooking and bedtime routines. School and nursery drop/collection free of charge, but fuel charges do apply.

Emma has worked for me for roughly a year and she looks after my 4 children aging from newborn to 10 years old.
She is patient, fair and makes sure any job list is done whilst looking after my children,
Emma is polite, extremely friendly and my children adore her.
I couldn't reccomend her enough.
She is the one you are looking for :)
However you can't pinch her off of me!

We’ve asked Emma to babysit on 3 occasions for my two boys (aged 5 and 2). My younger child has specific needs which didn’t phase Emma at all. She did a preliminary visit where we went through bedtime routines and Emma made thorough notes which she still refers to. She showed us relevant documents. Emma has always been friendly and professional and my husband and I have both been extremely happy with her babysitting. Both boys are happy to be left with Emma and the eldest boy looks forward to her coming. I don’t think we’d trust anyone more (in addition to friends and family) to leave our boys with. I can’t recommend her enough.

Emma is truly amazing! We needed someone we could trust to look after our two children (6 year old boy & 3 year old girl) while we went to a family funeral. I'm so glad Emma was available. We knew our kids would be in safe hands and this made a difficult day more managable.
Emma made a point visiting our home before the day to meet us all, go through paperwork and talk about a plan for the day. She is professional, well qualified, has a natural understanding of childrens needs and interests - everything a parent could ask for.
Emma is kind, thoughtful and fun, and has a natural rapport with children. My children had a great day full of adventures. They went to the park and collected sticks and stones. Then, after lunch, they made a flag from their sticks (that still takes pride of place in our garden) and painted their stones in the garden. When we came home, Emna read a story to give us a chance to sit down with a coffee. The house was clean and tidy, the children were really happy. They couldn't wait to tell us about their day and show us what they had made.
My children still talk about their day with Emma and ask when she will be coming to look after them again. In my mind, I don't think there could be better recommendation than that!
Emma will always be our first choice going forward. We have already booked her again for a school pickup, tea and bedtime nanny service (which is something we would have been apprehensive about before) and also have Emma in mind for other occassions, confident our children will be well looked after.

I can't recommend Emma enough, she's so great with my kids who are both shy and don't do very well with new people. She is friendly, fun, kind, caring, very patient, and always has fun, educational and creative activities planned. She communicates very well and makes sure to give you any and all important details about what happened while you were away. My kids always have such fun when with her and are always very excited when I tell them Emma will be looking after them! When Emma's watching my kids, I know they are safe, happy and well looked after and that I don't have to worry about a thing.
