My Summary
About Me
Hello,
My Name is Alison Page-Millard. I am a Qualified Nursery Nurse and mother of 3 who runs APPLEGARTH CHILDMINDERS from my home in the village of North Ferriby. I am Married to David and we have 3 grown up children. We also live with 3 dogs and a cat. Our house incorporates dedicated childcare facilities both indoors and outside in our extensive grounds of over an acre.
I have cared for children for over 30 years in a variety of childcare settings and have been established as a childminding service since May 1997.
In October 2015 the setting was graded as Outstanding by Ofsted. We are also a member of the Forest Schools Association committed to giving children varied outdoor experiences and outings.
I am able to offer funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds from the term after a child's 2nd birthday.
My Experience
I Qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1991, and since that time have worked both as a Nanny and in Day Nurseries both at home and abroad. I began Childminding in 1997 after the birth of my first child as a way to continue and develop my career as well as being there for my own family.
Since September 2000 I have offered an extended childcare service, employing a fully qualified assistant to work alongside myself.
At Applegarth Childminders we pride ourselves on providing a loving nurturing learning environnment where children can feel safe to explore and develop in a homely setting. Offering experiences within the setting and also out in the local community and also spending lots of time outside in our fantastic outdoor play area.

My daughter is almost three and a half and has been attending Applegarth since she was 8/9 months old when I returned to work. I remember my first phone conversation with Alison having to end abruptly, as I had started to cry at the thought of going back to work and leaving my daughter with a stranger, however, after a colleague recommended Alison to me I thought I'd go and meet her and I have never looked back.
My daughter is always happy to attend and I have not had one complaint about the care that she receives, which I find a miracle!
I find Alison and her colleague extremely easy to get on with and they are very caring towards the children and genuinely care about them. I find that there is a good balance between the time spent in Alison's home and visits to local children's centres and parks, especially in the summer months when they'll go for picnics etc.
I am currently expecting my second child and will not hesitate in sending him/her to Alison. In fact I've already asked Alison to put the baby on the waiting list! I cannot speak highly enough about the care provided and only hope that my daughter gets a place at Swanland Primary so that Alison can continue to look after her before and after school next year! :)
