About Me

My name is Gillian Agolini and I am a fully registered and insured childminder based in Avoch, Black Isle. I am also a mummy to my 13 month old son, Matthew, so I understand how important finding the right childcare is, thank you for considering me. My husband, Michael, works full time in Muir of Ord but is also PVG registered.

Having worked in Early Years and Childcare for a number of years I have gathered a range of experience and I have used these skills to create a safe, nurturing, home from home environment at Rose View.
We are located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just a 5 minute (10 for little legs) walk to Avoch Primary School/Nursery.

Our play room will always be evolving depending on the interests of the children, I am keen for them to take ownership of the area and get creative, leading play as much as possible, having fun and feeling very much at home. For quiet time we also have a cosy nook for reading stories and relaxing.
The large window in the play room looks out onto the garden. We have a wonderful outdoor space that overlooks fields and Rosehaugh Estate, a perfect spot to encourage imaginative minds and those inquisitive about plants, nature and their surroundings.

Routines are flexible and will always be tailored to meet the needs of the children in my care.

If you have any questions regarding our home or your individual needs please do not hesitate to get in touch.

My Experience

I obtained my Level 3 qualification in Early Years whilst working at a Private Day Nursery in Buckinghamshire. During my time there I worked with babies from as young as 7 weeks old up to children of 5 years in the Preschool Room.

I had a very exciting career with this company (Childbase) which included:
• Being selected to represent the Company on a research based trip to Christchurch, New Zealand.
• I was promoted to Team Leader which enabled me to support staff to deliver outstanding practice and the best experiences possible for the children in our care.
• Our nursery was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating in their inspection which reflected the quality of care being delivered.
• I was the nursery SENCO (Special Educational Needs coordinator), ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities within the nursery received the support they needed.
• I was awarded with the “Professional Development” Award at the Childbase Annual awards Ceremony 2014.
• Our Nursery was awarded “Childbase Nursery of the Year” at the Annual Awards Ceremony in 2015.

After deciding to settle back in Inverness in 2016 I took on the role of Early Years Practitioner in a Preschool Nursery within the Highland Council. The children in my care were aged from 3 to 5 years.  Working within a school environment gave me an opportunity to work closely with Primary 1 teachers, allowing me to support children in their transition to ‘Big School’.

I also covered as a Pupil Support Assistant on an ad hoc basis within the school, covering from Primary 1 to Primary 7, working with pupils in areas such as Maths and Reading as well as supporting individual children with Additional Needs.

If you would like to ask any questions about my experience, please feel free to get in touch.

Gill looked after both of my children from around six months old and they couldn't have been in better hands. In fact she was a key reason for us choosing the nursery we did - loving, caring, fun, she knew so much about the children she was caring for and always had a little one tucked under her arm. She's also really great at communicating with parents too, making us feel relaxed and confident the children were happy and cared for when we weren't around. My two children adored Gill (and they weren't alone) and it felt a bit like winning the Lottery when your children had Gill as their key worker. Gill also did babysitting for my two, from when they were quite small. With no family nearby it felt like a big thing to leave them and Gill took the stress out of everything - including washing sheets when my daughter was ill in the night - and fussing over my clingy dog. Gill was a really important part of my children's early days and the start of my own journey as a parent, and I'll aways be grateful to her for helping make life that little bit easier. I'd still be using Gill now if it wasn't for the 1,000 mile round trip!

Gill looked after my son from 8 weeks old, she was so caring and kind to both my sons and my needs as a new mother. Gill supported us through so many transitions until my baby became old enough to move onto the next room at nursery. Gill continued to check how my son was throughout the nursery and had such a strong connection. My son still talks about ‘Gill Gill’ now and he is six.
I was lucky enough for my daughter to also have Gill as a Key worker when she was 8 weeks old, it was so reassuring to know Gill was that consistent person in my baby’s life whilst I was busy at work. My daughter was poorly medically whilst Gill supported massively.
I could not recommend Gill enough to look after your child’s needs. Such a personal service and an amazing level of confidence and care.
RoseView is a lovely home within a beautiful setting.

Gillian was my daughter’s key worker at nursery - few years ago. She stands out as an exceptional caregiver. I was really happy to leave my baby in her care, and my daughter was comfortable to be left with her. She is kind, gentle and fun with children.
