Disappointed

Nicola joined our family for four weeks in a part time position in September 2021. At first, in spite of a week of sick leave very early on, she seemed to settle well with the children and within the family, commenting that she was enjoying the role.

One night, she finished work, leaving in good spirits. She then did not return to work, blocked all communication with me, including blocking my access to leave a review on this site. She has made no attempt at all to explain her actions or check in so we knew she was OK.

Being a Nanny requires a degree of maturity and a concern for the children you are looking after. Leaving children wanting answers as to what they have done wrong to make their Nanny not want to come back, is not the mark of someone who is ready to care for junior aged children.

I wish Nicola all the best. I would, however, recommend that anyone looking to provide a role to this Nanny considers safeguarding via having a contract in place and a payment plan, which protects both parties in case the relationship doesn’t work out. Based on my experience she is unlikely to confront or communicate if this is the case.

I’d like to thank Childcare.co.uk for providing me with the opportunity to leave a review based on a recent experience, which I hope will help others with the decision to hire this Nanny or not. If nothing else, at least I now know that she is safe.

It has taken me a long time to reply to this, trying to ruin someone’s career and lively hood is very cruel.

I was 7 months pregnant whilst working here - the ‘ sickness’ the first week I worked there I was in hospital it was 30 degrees that week and I had to walk to the school to get the children resulting in very swollen legs - they knew I was in hospital.

I did tell them I will not be coming back as I had a bereavement .. they then told me to updates them however there was nothing to update. I had to block communication as I was getting calls from the family and their friends after I had said I wasn’t returning

All of this whilst I was pregnant. This review has had a HUGE impact on my profile.

Absolutely wonderful nanny

Nicola was our nanny until our son was 18 months old and she relocated. She was absolutely wonderful in every way - I was never in any doubt as to how much she adored him and her job and if we could have kept her for all of our kids we’d have done so in a heartbeat.

In her care our son Ronan became so confident and happy, he learnt to walk and talk with her, became far more comfortable with other children, and just clearly enjoyed every day they spent together.

Likewise her help around the house was incredible. She left the house spotless every day, and our son was so excited to see her every morning. He’d wait by the door. She was flexible, always happy to help with anything that she could, never late or bad with time keeping and just so reliable.

Nicola was a truly loved member of our household and we would absolutely recommend her to care for anyone’s children.

We were heartbroken to lose her, and seeing a very unfair and unrepresentative review above spurred me to finally write the review she deserves.

If you want a kind, professional and really loving nanny you’ve found one.

Unprofessional

We have been in touch with this nanny and finally we booked an appointment for an interview.
She never attended the appointment and also she didn't let us know that she was not coming, keeping all the family at home waiting for her.
Very unacceptable attitude.

I had messaged you on the childcare website and you replied late at night with your address I did not confirm I was coming the next day as the message was late at night - VERY unfair
