Nanny in Dundee (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
Experienced Nanny | Permanent & Event Childcare
About Me
I’m a qualified nanny/early years practitioner. My role is to provide quality, stimulating childcare in Dundee & surrounding areas. I care for children in your home, working with your established routines. I am a creative, fun loving and down to earth person with a genuine passion for my work. I am very flexible, a key skill when working with families. My job is to make your family life as stress free as possible.
When childcare is provided in your own home, it is easier to maintain your child’s usual routines and structure. Children are more settled in their own familiar environment. Home based childcare can provide parents with confidence and peace of mind, knowing that their child is being cared for in a way that suits their family values. It can also help reduce the pressure of busy morning and evening routines. Breakfast, dinner and homework can all be taken care of, meaning you and your children can enjoy a more settled start or end to the day.
After taking a break from nannying at the end of 2022 to focus on other areas of my life, including (my current) permanent part-time post, I am now looking to return to nannying. I have decided that this is the right time to return to a field I have always genuinely enjoyed. I am excited to build on my current experience and passion for working with children.
I am available to provide before and after school care. I understand that not everyone works Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm therefore I am happy to meet with you to discuss your childcare requirements.
I currently have availability on Thursdays and Fridays and am open to discussing both short-term and long-term roles. I am also available to provide childcare if you are attending a special event, such as a wedding. I am happy to discuss any weekend requirements.
Direct contact details for referees will be provided. All original documents including ID and HNC certificates will also be provided at interview.
My Experience
Through my studies and experience I am knowledgeable in Curriculum for Excellence (CFE) and recognise the value of play as a central feature in supporting children’s development and wellbeing. I enjoy planning and creating both structured and imaginative activities that encourage curiosity, creativity and learning. I also enjoy planning outdoor experiences and activities.
Alongside my experience as a nanny, I have approximately 15 years experience working with children and parents facing adversity, recognising the importance of providing a calm, consistent and supportive approach. My role involved undertaking focused pieces of work while supporting children and families to build on their existing strengths, qualities and resilience. I currently work part-time within a team from Monday to Wednesday, providing a wide range of practical support to a varied client group.
I have co-facilitated groups where the underpinning values are based on teaching theories of attachment, social learning and improving parent-child relationships. These programmes also focused on the importance of early intervention and the positive impact of attuned parenting in the early years.
On a personal level I have an adult son, he graduated from university, moved to England and is working in a finance role. We have a rescue pug who is a very special part of our life. We have always loved all animals and I am very comfortable around pets of all kinds. Many years ago I worked as a nanny in New York. To this day, America is one of my favourite Countries to visit.
My Qualifications
I have always had a very strong work ethic, whether it is within the workplace or regarding my education. I believe it is important to have a strong commitment to work and to set goals. I completed an HNC in Childhood Practice which I funded myself, attending college 2 nights a week. I was awarded an A.
I have also successfully gained an HNC in Health and Social Care where I was awarded an A. I have completed K100 an Open University course in Health and Social Care, as well as SVQ 3, Health and Social Care (Adults). I studied to make positive changes to my work life and to improve my prospects and still enjoy learning.

Karen was a wonderful help to us and our family last year and we miss her! She looked after our son from aged 1 for a year as a part time nanny. She is totally reliable, caring, creative and developed such a sweet relationship with our son, which he really cherished. Every week she’d think of new thoughtful ideas of fun outings and adventures for them to do together. She is highly qualified for the job and an experienced mum herself. We cannot recommend her highly enough. Happy to provide references, please contact me.
